IRON MAIDEN SURVIVOR #7: Results -> Hallowed Be Thy Name wins for the 6th time!

How I see the votes for the Senjutsu songs so far:

Title track: a unique and specific song, definitely doesn't deserve so many votes. It should survive the first round.
Stratego: I expected less votes for this great song(!)
Lost In A Lost World: the amount of votes are expected as this is probably the least liked song from the album along with Darkest Hour. Not even the brilliant intro/outro can save it. Underrated song already. Love the riffs and the melodies.
Days Of Future Past: I really hope the fans like this song and the only reason for so many votes is the total amount of votes per round. There are better songs in the album for sure, but this is one of the band's most impactful short songs. If there was a harmony in the middle instead of the empty part, it would have been on Rainmaker's level imo. I always thought this song is liked by a lot of fans.
Time Machine: a victim of the overall strong material in the album and in the list, I guess? Typical catchy and interesting Maiden song (like the previous one). I expected the amount of votes though. This is the other underrated song from the album imo.
Darkest Hour: expected votes again. A ballad is not for everyone.
Death Of The Celts: doesn't deserve the amount of votes imo. It's strange that it's not more popular among fans, I certainly think it's more liked than Lost World, Darkest Hour and even Time Machine (the title track? I'm not sure). In its essence, this is Clansman's cousin.

Days of Future Past. The only C (or below) tier track in an S tier album. Everytime I play it back in my head, I somehow end up with The Pilgrim instead after the intro.

I do love the upcoming tour's name and concept. I think it's self-evident that this will be performed in the upcoming tour, and I also think that it's a waste of time and space.

I can see the similarities with The Pilgrim, but for me this is one of those albums for which I care about every song! I want to hear all of them live. No weak songs.

This was reassuring and soothing to hear. I think I'll give this a pass and take it for what it is instead of being miffed about it. I blame my harshness on nicotine withdrawal.

Thanks for un-unscrewing my head

Yeah they definitely retooled The Pilgrim’s verses for DOFP, but what separates the two is the blindingly epic chorus. If they filled in that middle section more it would be even better, but as is it’s a tight rocker with one of Bruce’s best hooks.

Not sure about that, The Pilgrim's chorus is pretty epic too. I dig both songs but prefer Pilgrim. DOFP ranks higher in the context of its own album though.
Oh I like “The Pilgrim” too, don’t get me wrong. It really takes you into its world and has some great melodies and great hooks. I’d even say it’s a way better-written song. But there’s something about the visceral-ness of “THE DAYS OF FUTURE PAST! TO WANDER ON THE SHORE!” that gives me chills every time.

Eliminated after Round 26:
Lost In A Lost World - 19 votes
Darkest Hour - 18 votes
Isle Of Avalon - 16 votes
Death Of The Celts - 16 votes
Senjutsu - 15 votes

Promoted after Round 26:
Starblind
The Talisman
When The Wild Wind Blows

+ the remaining 10 songs left in the poll
The Wicker Man
Ghost Of The Navigator
Brave New World
Blood Brothers
Stratego
The Writing On The Wall
Days Of Future Past
The Time Machine
The Parchment
Hell On Earth

All the promoted songs were divided into 3 brackets based on their performance in the album rounds - Bottom 25, Mid 15, Top 15.
We'll start with Bottom 25 - once that group is down to 10 songs, we'll introduce the Mid 15, once we're down to 10 again, we'll introduce the Top 15.

Wait, when did Starblind and Talisman get eliminated? Last I saw they only had 3 or 4 votes.

Anyways I voted for my 4 least favorites, but here are my 4 favorites from this list:
  • Murders in the Rue Morgue
  • The Rainmaker
  • When the Wild Wind Blows
  • The Time Machine
Honorable Mention: Aces High, The Educated Fool, Stratego

Only 4 votes against 25 songs? OK…
  • Afraid To Shoot Strangers
  • Lord Of The Flies
  • The Edge Of Darkness
  • The Educated Fool

Prowler
Murders In The Rue Morgue (the intro is fantastic, don't care about the rest of the song)
The Prisoner
Where Eagles Dare

Funnily enough the first 6 are all rather weak songs for me that I don't enjoy as much, while single song in this list starting with NPFTD is at least great ranging to genuine 10/10s.

Eliminated after Round 26:
Isle Of Avalon - 16 votes
^ The song with the 2nd best chorus in its album, overall one of Maiden's best choruses imo.

With only 4 votes, I voted for:

Remember Tomorrow
Murders In The Rue Morgue
Public Enema Number One
The Educated Fool

I've never been a big fan of the first 2 early days songs. How Public was even promoted. Sometimes, the chorus of Fool can be a bit of a drag in a fairly upbeat song.

I think this is the first time ever that ALL the songs I voted for got eliminated in one round. Beautiful.
