Because there's more to it than the final couple of minutes? :p

It has just about everything people seem to like in a Maiden epic. Singalong melodies, twin guitar harmonies, atmosphere, rhythmic changes, etc.

Phantom
Hallowed
Caught
Alexander
Infinite

The five remaining reunion-era songs are among the best of their career.

the reunion albums are far more consistent than the older albums.

Aside from Dance of Death, I completely agree. Final Frontier has weak spots but it's still more consistent than any of their older albums outside of Seventh Son.

Brave New World and AMOLAD are pretty much filler-free. Book of Souls is close but still has a few dips.

I can't believe If Eternity Should Fail is gone. I hate you all, but I've told you so before.

Tactical votes for SSOASS, BTATS and Empire to save Sign of the Cross and two more votes for Powerslave and Infinite Dreams because they are not worthy.

Tough choice. I'll go with Caught Somewhere in Time, Infinite Dreams, Paschendale, The Book of Souls and Empire of the Clouds

Here's where shit is getting heated. Once again, I'll preface this by saying all these songs are awesome.
I do have a few points to make.

While there are very few Maiden songs that I would consider "filler", I'll take the worst songs on TBOS over the worst BNW songs any day of the week. In other words, River Runs Deep and Great Unknown are vastly superior to Fallen Angle and Mercenary, which are songs that I'd consider filler by Maiden's standards.

I have no real arguments about AMOLAD, but I find The Pilgrim weaker than any song on BoS.
#KillThousandSuns
YES! Why the hell is Suns still around!? It's a good song, but it's not even top 5 of AMOLAD, there's no way in hell that it's a top 10 Iron Maiden song.

Also, I'm quite shocked at the success of Infinite Dreams. I'm not upset at all (In fact I don't believe that I've voted for this song a single time in this survivor.) I just never realized it was so loved around here.

Voting for:
Sign of the Cross
Thousand Suns(!)
Empire
.
.
.
....Rime

Feels like I've been voting the same songs for a while now.
In the cases of CSIT and 7th Son, that's definitely true.

I like both, but at this level the former is repetitive and unmelodic, the latter is bloated and boring.

And I wasn't specifically singling you out, Whooten, just the tendency for us to get the same results when it comes to the Top Ten. From what I remember, we're potentially looking at an exact duplicate of the previous Maiden survivor Top Ten, minus Wasted Years. Which says something for the quality of those songs, but it's still a drag to see some overhyped material like Alex and CSIT continue to make the finals while we immediately cast aside newer, better material (including some of what you mentioned).

I wonder if a "reverse survivor" like what's going on with Dio now or starting with the new albums and working back to IM would produce a different result. Are 155 options allowed in polls? ;)

I'm actually really enjoying this Reverse Survivor thing and I would love for the next Maiden survivor to follow suit!

I actually often enjoy listening to a band from the end to the beginning and would love to see these reverse survivors on a regular basis (not having joined the Dio one as I don't consider myself ready for that one in particular).

I also suspect the results of the Maiden would would be rather different in that case.

Well, @mckindog's "reverse" survivor mostly just means we're voting for our favorite songs instead of our least favorite songs, not necessarily that we're starting at the end. Although, I believe we're now going back and forth in time from the next oldest album to the next newest album. So, with Maiden in mind, we would start the game voting solely on the self-titled, then in the next round add The Book of Souls, then Killers, then The Final Frontier, etc.

Or this. I don't care as long as it's not oldest -> youngest.

...or even start with 20 randomly generated songs followed by sets of 10 randomly chosen songs once enough songs are voted off.

So many options. Maybe even run 3 (new to old, keep your favorites, random order) concurrently to compare and contrast!

I'm actually planning to do the next survivor in a different way, so keep the ideas coming. Didn't want to mess with the formula for this one since r there was a new album.
