the reunion albums are far more consistent than the older albums.
I can't believe If Eternity Should Fail is gone. I hate you all, but I've told you so before.
Tactical votes for ... BTATS
While there are very few Maiden songs that I would consider "filler", I'll take the worst songs on TBOS over the worst BNW songs any day of the week. In other words, River Runs Deep and Great Unknown are vastly superior to Fallen Angle and Mercenary, which are songs that I'd consider filler by Maiden's standards.Brave New World and AMOLAD are pretty much filler-free. Book of Souls is close but still has a few dips.
YES! Why the hell is Suns still around!? It's a good song, but it's not even top 5 of AMOLAD, there's no way in hell that it's a top 10 Iron Maiden song.#KillThousandSuns
Also, table flippage. Gutted about Eternity. That one went straight into my Maiden top ten, which is in need of a post-TBOS makeover now.

And I wasn't specifically singling you out, Whooten, just the tendency for us to get the same results when it comes to the Top Ten. From what I remember, we're potentially looking at an exact duplicate of the previous Maiden survivor Top Ten, minus Wasted Years. Which says something for the quality of those songs, but it's still a drag to see some overhyped material like Alex and CSIT continue to make the finals while we immediately cast aside newer, better material (including some of what you mentioned).
I wonder if a "reverse survivor" like what's going on with Dio now or starting with the new albums and working back to IM would produce a different result.
I actually often enjoy listening to a band from the end to the beginning and would love to see these reverse survivors on a regular basis (not having joined the Dio one as I don't consider myself ready for that one in particular).
I also suspect the results of the Maiden would would be rather different in that case.
Well, @mckindog's "reverse" survivor mostly just means we're voting for our favorite songs instead of our least favorite songs, not necessarily that we're starting at the end. Although, I believe we're now going back and forth in time from the next oldest album to the next newest album. So, with Maiden in mind, we would start the game voting solely on the self-titled, then in the next round add The Book of Souls, then Killers, then The Final Frontier, etc.
