I am incapable of ignoring lyrics and vocals that I don't like. They forever taint good music. That's just how I am.

I don't want to get into another lyrics v. music discussion, however, so I'll just say: I like the other songs on the list more. B)

I do pay extra attention to lyrics as well, but lyrics can never ruin a song for me. They can play a big role in a song that is also musically powerful, like Starblind; they can be icing on the cake for a very good song, like Paschendale; they can make me appreciate an average song more, like Revelations; but they can never ruin a song that is musically powerful no matter how bad they are, like Alexander the Great or To Tame a Land.

I agree with Flash. This happens with me most of the time. Lyrics hardly ever make a song worse, if the music is (very) cool.
But it also works the other way: there are a few occasions when lyrics make the song much better instead of just being the icing. One of these cases is The Apparition. Not the most awesome music, but in combination with these lyrics it gets much better for me.

Vocals are important to me as well. My two favourite bands feature my two favourite vocalists (Maiden and Priest). But I guess I am more tolerant for lesser Gods on the mic than Knick.

Vocals and lyrics are very separate entities for me. The vocal melodies are just as important as the other instruments while the lyrics are an added flavor. You could easily remove the lyrics and just sing solfege and I'd enjoy it if the melody was good. Most of the time I can't understand the lyrics anyway.

This even goes for hip hop, a very lyric driven genre. While the lyrics do play a slightly larger role for me, I'm more into the rhythmic flow of the words.

This is a factor for me as well. My listening pleasure isn't effected by the lyrics mostly because of this reason. But when I'm judging or discussing the quality of a song, that's where lyrics show their importance. If a lyric can't ruin my listening experience, why would I let it ruin my judgement of a song?

Revelations
Icarus
Trooper
Sea of Madness - Sorry guys but this seems like one of the weaker ones here
