I was joking about that actually. I could see it. I was pretending i didn't to be silly. I guess my smiley didn't catch on.
Don't be sorry. :)

Flash got eliminated in its first appearance. I shall show no mercy.

The Duellists is underappreciated.
Loneliness - after a surprise burst of affection in the head to head game - is back to being the same.

Couldn't disagree with you more Knick.
Try doing a cross-country run as hard as you can for seven minutes and tell me the lyrics don't fit the music.

No, I get it. I run often. I like running. I have run to that song multiple times.

I just...can't get behind a metal song about marathon running. Sports and metal are just lame to me. Cheers that you love it, but I just can't do it.

Meh, they've written songs with much worse lyrics/topics. Loneliness has some of the best Maiden twin guitar work ever, I can put up with the meh lyrics. That goes for quite a few songs on this album really. All about the music for me.

The beginning of that song is really something magical. That's what drew me into it in the first place. And yes, the twin guitars! They shine so much here! As far as the lyrics, they may not be the greatest but are they really that bad? Some might consider them inspiring in some way.

Have you seen the film or have you read the book? This is not just about marathon running. And the main character didn't even run marathons. There's a whole psychological concept (loneliness, dealing with expectations of others, self discipline) behind the sports topic in the original story. I am sure that such aspects motivated Steve to write a song about it (although I have the idea that he changed the main plot somewhat).
