Children of the Damned is pretty safe. :)
I prefer 22 so it was a bit of a reaction vote, not much more. Looking at the other remaining Beast songs, then I prefer Children of the Damned over all those apart from Hallowed.

From the remaining POM songs, I only like Revelations less than Where Eagles Dare.

Energetic song live. As most songs from that album, they have something special live, and they mix very well in setlists, no matter which and where.
But the studio versions are duller, also duller than other studio tracks, imo. The content misses some spark. Maybe it's the sterile drumming, or the not so interesting solos by Adrian.

I like The Prisoner, it's fun and catchy, but I don't think it holds up to their greater material (especially Adrian's greater material).

As for NOTB, I'm with @Forostar. I find the album, as recorded, incredibly overrated. The title track is exceptionally overexposed, IMO. Never liked it all that much and its constant placement on setlists makes me like it even less.

It doesn't touch the albums they would make after, but it is a heavy metal classic for a good reason. I love it.

I suppose if you look at it that way....especially the part about "Adrian's greater material" which is soon to come. The Prisoner is one of my favorite Maiden songs so of course I'll be quick to defend it much like what everyone else is doing with their songs. :D

Number of the Beast dull in the studio? It's one of the most electrifying tracks they ever recorded...

The story behind Bruce's scream is golden. :) And when it comes to vocal performance, I'd rate most studio songs over the live versions.

Overexposure is a factor that might have to do with me as well.

Well... I must have listened to this song a thousand times or more, but it never gets old. It is probably the single most influential song in my life.

I have that with (live versions of) The Trooper. Typically a song of which I don't feel it's overexposed (so it's gotta be something that touches us personally in these selections), although I wouldn't miss it in the set in favour of a more rare or new song.

The Trooper never gets old either. There's really just a few that get old for me... Run to the Hills and Wrathchild spring to mind.
