If we only think they've been in the studio a couple of weeks than that seems far too short a time to be done recording. They tend to take 2-3 months.

They've been in the studio since 1st of March. And they seem like they will be there until 31st of March. Possibly this is just a break in the sessions. I remember that during TBOS they also had a week of break and KS's family visited him in Paris.

There is also a possibility that the album will be mixed later. TBOS was 6th of October to 25th of November 2014, but included mixing of the tracks.

Or maybe... Roll on summer... We are off to Greece means that they (KS and the family) are going to Greece in the summer. Not now.

Yeah there's too much that they've let slip at this point.

It's possible they might have been in GT writing and rehearsing before Kev arrived on the 1st to begin recording. If they're not writing as they do this time then a month is enough to get tracking done.

The earliest they could've been at GT is February 25th. H was still in Bahamas on 22nd and Nathalie said that they are going home on 23rd. Add one day of travelling and there you have it.

Anyway I don't know why Rod and the band have this topic secretly. In the 80's and 90's everybody knew when Maiden were recording even they were open to interviews while recording. I suppose is marketing

Do you know for sure any example of that ? I can't remember any, just interviews in the interval between recording and releasing the record.

I'd say they aren't being secretive, but pretending to be. Then the interweb goes "OMG!!! Teh Rod has took down tweetsLOL That meanz album is real!!!!!111" and they get much more hype than when Steve openly said a few months that they would get together in the new year.

I don't remember right now, but I remember Kerrang and Metal Hammer magazines with full articles about Fear of the Dark album and pics with Steve, Janick and Mrtin Birch at the Console and talking about some of the songs, I also remember an interview with Bruce the day that they're filming Be quick videoclip and talking what great would be Fear of the Dark.
I think some of FC Magazines covered some interviews and pics before some albums were released.

There's a Dickinson interview in the middle of Somewhere in Time recording on the commentary. The video footage from Germany 1988 also exists but I can't be sure now if it's mid recording sessions.

The SSOASS thing was end of the recording party AFAIK.

SIT is also an exception, because they used 2 studios with a break in between.

Yeah, they're not the type of band to publicize being in a studio that much.
