Iron Maiden stage Eddies (big and walk on) over the years

I didn't know they also used the guitar from the tour poster for TFF walk-on Eddie! Cool. The only stage Eddie with a guitar!

Weird shape, it looks like a fish lol. The white Strat is probably one of Janick's?

X Factour Eddie … this wasn’t the “big” Eddie during Iron Maiden was it? Pretty pathetic.
It's kinda cool, I think. It comes up during the slow build, and when the band kicks back in, it shakes crazily with loads of lights flashing on it like he's getting electrocuted. Cool effect, IMO.

Of course, I had to see this on bootlegs, since they played near me in a tiny club and didn't have the big Eddie, let alone even the walk-on Eddie... :S

I think that The X-Factor stage & "Big Eddie" are fairly good for what they are trying to be: a scaled-down version of a classic Maiden stage set that brings the album artwork to life.

There wasn't much going on, of course, but I think it's a lot more subtle and stylish approach than e.g No Prayer on the Road Eddie(s) and Virtual XI stage show (excluding the effects & lights!) altogether, which I think had a great concept, but ended up being very messy.

I obviously haven't seen these shows in person, so I don't know how it all appeared when you were there. Videos and whatnot are good for objective analysis, but when criticizing these things and, for example, setlist choices it's sometimes easy to forget the experience of witnessing it all yourself. Can I Play With Madness aka "the w0rst song on 7th Son" definitely wasn't on my wishlist for the Future Past tour (although I assumed it might return as it kind of has been in the rehearsal rotation ever since 1988), but having seen a few shows, I think it was a great live track and judging by the 2024 videos, it seems that the South American crowd absolutely loved it! Yet it's nothing usual to see people wondering why on Earth they decided to play that one etc.

(I kind of wandered far off from my initial point.... oh well)

This. TXF tour stage looks good. The only odd thing was that there were only 2 backdrops, the only 90's tour with such approach. One constant background (iron wall) was used. Missed opportunities with them, that annoys me (not that the covers from that era were great).
- the 90's tour with the best stage imo.

As for VXI, I think it's ''underrated'' for what they were trying to achieve. I also think it's better than TEH's stage with the similar approach. Some different shapes at least.

Well yeah, the more "lively" shape is definitely a thing that I like in the Virtual XI stage show! To an extent, I can also appreciate the attempt at... uhh creating that abstract-apocalyptic-video game-end of the world-dungeon-thingy or whatever that visual landscape is trying to be. It just doesn't look very coherent, doesn't connect that well with most of the backdrops and while the concept of the VXI tour big Eddie is neat, it ended up looking rather disjointed...

Agreed about the big Eddie, and TXF stage looks more coherent and with the backdrops, but let's also take into account the times. I think it fits that virtual realm-chaotic style of the album cover. The light shows were especially good for these tours. A bit messy, not quite like TEH tour (2D/3D...), which was based on a game, like VXI's theme. As in ''more worlds in one'' sort of stuff, wow.

That's probably the best footage I've seen of it. Weirdly, it's different from what I saw in an old VHS bootleg I had. It's like the timing of the "electrocution" stage was off on this one by 30 or so seconds...or maybe I'm remembering it in a way that would've been more effective. Like, why wouldn't you have him being electrocuted right when the band kicks back in?
