Iron Maiden Picture Game

Okay, let me help you by summarizing all we have so far.

The flower led us to the Scouts. I have stated that the next step is to find a person who is connected to the Scouts movement, but was/is not a Scout.

Said person was more ancient than John Dee, but less ancient than Alexander the Great. It's not Jesus, but Christianity is still a useful link. Also, the person in question has a legend associated with him. And he has the same role for others as for the Scouts, and is probably more known for that.

And one more thing: Once you find the person, it is going to be impossible to miss the song.

Flash of the Blade? (St George)
Bravo!

St. George is not only patron saint of England, but also of the international Scouting movement. The legend is of course that of St. George and the dragon, and he was also a Christian martyr who was executed when he refused to sacrifice to the Roman gods. And the legend about him killing the dragon is what caused Bruce to refer to him in Flash of the Blade.

Well done!

It doesn't mention it on the main Wiki page for Scouting though (does it?) or on The Scouts main website (although I may have missed it). Think that was a bit obscure, Wingman. Oddly enough I don't think this was mentioned much in Scouting in Scotland. Can't imagine why...
