I would expect Dio to be in alright, if not for any single one of his bands then as an iconic performer in his own right. And no Thin Lizzy is just weird. But then the whole thing is a big bag of wank anyway so fuck em.

Not really. Chicago, Deep Purple, Heart, Eagles, E Street Band, Fleetwood Mac, Guns N Roses, Journey, Metallica and a bunch of others had a bunch of guys inducted not just the most popular or famous formations.

Only ones where I can remember a distinct “classic lineup only” thing are KISS and Sabbath, but I’m sure there are more.
