Iron Maiden confirmed on the "Download TV Festival" - June 12-14

Were you really expecting something more?

I was expecting something from Download.

Not that it makes any difference to me, a live track is a live track. I'd have liked Tears of a Clown from 2016 since it didn't make the live album but other than that I'm not going to shed any tears if they show Fear of the Dark from Rock in Rio 2019 rather than Fear of the Dark from Download 2016.

I bloody hope it isn't anything from RiR'19, Bruce was really sick at that gig and it showed. Props to him for going ahead with the show as they always do, but that really wasn't a great gig imo.

Nicko & Rod interview prediction

Rod: "We're obviously very sorry for our 2020 plans being cancelled and postponed for next year" and the usual stuff we've heard in the recent announcements. One or two lines indicating that there will be something very special when the tour next year is done. "Be smart, stay safe."

Nicko: HELLO BOYS 'N GIRLS! Some quality jokes and good vibes, no news save for hoping to see everyone on the road next year and a couple of comments about how they were really looking forward doing this "very special show" in Download this year. A small hint about exciting times ahead and one or two well thought-of hints around "new music possibly waiting around the corner" or whatnot.

And like I said a few posts ago, the interviews with Rod & Nicko might not be 25 minutes each so me might get more live footage than just one song.

Do any of you actually want to hear from Rod? It's fair enough to hear from the band's drummer, but I can't imagine an interview with Rod Smallwood generating a lot of interest. He must be the most famous band manager ever.

Rod will be talking about Heavy Metal Traunts I bet.

I might be alone, but my excitement levels for this are quite low and I am not sure I would even watch it on Saturday. The song to be broadcast would be probably from Rock in Rio 2019 as the show was pro-shot and I bet the interviews with Rod and Nicko would not provide any interesting information: empty words from Rod about the postponement of the tour; corny jokes and the same old stories from Nicko.

You read it here first. :D

maybe there might be something good on saturday after all,

No, I don't really want to hear from Rod, unless he's announcing some very interesting Maiden news, ie not another new beer, or a 'the boys send their best wishes', or the 'postponed tour is going to be great fun next year'.

But I'll watch some virtual Download, there are a few bands I'm interested in and I like the idea of not having to get off my backside or go and stand in muddy gloop to see bands.

Or in the post 5 posts before yours.

Actually I forgot that they already published a live version of Run to the Hills from Legacy of the Beast:

Flight of Icarus already published, too.

So yeah, it'll be either Fear of the Dark or The Trooper.

MAYBE if they feel adventurous, it'll be For the Greater Good of God, which is the only track out of the setlist which does not have an official live release.

Took me ages to dig out the Download TV schedules. The evening shows are on Youtube, from 7pm UK, 8pm in Europe (what, all of Europe?), 11am US Pacific time, 2pm US eastern time. Some time into the future in Japan and Australia, that timetravelling bunch.

Sat evening artists (I assume in this order, but who knows): Alter Bridge, Funeral For A Friend, Loathe, Poppy, Creeper, Mastodon, Holding Absence, The Wildhearts, Bush, Killswitch Engage, Those Damn Crows, The Pretty Reckless, Gojira and Iron Maiden.
So three bands I'd like to see there. An exclusive performance from Amaranthe is part of the Saturday afternoon programme (Facebook, Twitch and Twitter).

There's a KISS makeup tutorial on Friday afternoon. Do not miss. Friday evening features: Lacuna Coil, PUP, Motionless In White, Steel Panther, Wargasm, WWE NXT Superstars (???), Biffy Clyro, Sleep Token, Airbourne, Wayward Sons, Fozzy, The Offspring, Black Veil Brides, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Deftones and KISS. Not unlike watching Kerrang! channel on a Friday, then.

Sunday evening artists from 4.25pm to 9pm UK (curfew so the residents of Castle Donington don't get kept up on a school night?): Babymetal, The Darkness, Baroness, The Hara, Volbeat, Periphery, Bowling For Soup, Korn, Skillet, Wage War, Powerwolf, Disturbed, Alestorm and System Of A Down. So 3-4 bands I'd be interested in seeing stuff from there.
