Iced Earth

Yubileyna is one of the smaller halls and it has a capacity of about 1000. I haven't been to this particular club but I think it's smaller.

Edit: I just checked it. It says 1000 again. Hm.

They are playing in a bit smaller venue than the previous time here too. But this one doesn't have the rule that shows have to be over before midnight, so I expect a longer show :edmetal:

Well, on the plus side, I might be able to sneak in without a ticket. :D
I just found out that my husband maintains the sound system of this club, so I might get lucky there.

New album will be called Plagues Of Babylon, and is expected to be released in October 2013.

Some of the songtitles:
-Plagues Of Babylon
-Democide
-Among The Living Dead
-The Resistance
-If I Could See You
-Peacemaker
-Cthulhu
-Parasite

I picked up the live album this week, and it's a solid effort. It's not quite as classic as Alive in Athens, but then again, it's almost impossible to touch that one.

As for Stu, he sounds great on just about all of the material, although at times, I wish he would have stopped with the vocal acrobatics and just sing the songs. We get that he can sing very high at the drop of a hat, but a bit too often he sang high when there was no need in the song for it. I also wish they would have played Anguish of Youth, as that was easily the best song on the new album. Finally, the backing vocals don't quite work as well live as they do on the albums.

Still, this was a very solid album, and kudos for including material from throughout the band's career, including the Ripper years.

You're crazy, he was THE Iced Earth drummer :( Christy and Jarzombek are technically better, but Brent was their longest serving drummer, played on most releases and it will be hard getting used to him leaving :( Now no one's left in the band from AIA lineup, or from the first Barlow era. Except Schaffer, of course.

I bet Troy is the next to leave.

I don't care if he was THE boss. He was horrible on the Dystopia album and tour. It was time for him to go. His drumming is so dull and actually a bit obnoxious. There was one live stream of some festival (I wanna say Bloodstock but I'm not sure) that was just unbearable.

If Troy left next, then I'd have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming.

Smedley left the band before I am afraid. He was my favourite IE drummer as well. I was happy he returned at some point. Will check that clip later, but I haven't heard any other drummer playing the songs as well as him, live. Alive in Athens features such stable, tight, kick ass drumming. I don't recall that he became worse.

I like AQOH but I never thought it was that great live. Tis performance was particularly dull, yea. Stulow doesn't improve it much and the intro sounded like it was ready to fall apart at any second.
