Rolling Stone is a complete BS.

This stuff is awesome!!! I'm so bookmarking it.Twarkle said:Here's the Yngwie interview I referenced. It may the single funniest thing I have ever read, it's hard to even take him seriously. http://www.angelfire.com/musicals/zimi/pages/misc/yngwie_rates.html
His comments on Satriani's "The Mighty Turtle Head",
Maybe something like this:Jeffmetal said:I'd love to see his opinion on Maiden as he opened for Maiden on SIT tour. I have a mag in which he says Metallica is so shit that they can't even tune their guitars correctly, let alone play with an orchestra (it was at the time or after S&M); he says that Steve Morse has a great picking and should play banjo, Satriani is just one more pentatonic user and also, he says that Symptom Of The Universe riff is THE definitive sound.
Suicidehummer said:Yngwie is so full of himself and in reality he couldn't write a song to save his life. Same with Satriani and all those tasteless shredders. Adrian and Dave blow away those braindead morons any day and we all know it.
Wow, you've obviously never listened to Satch. Satch is not a tasteless shredder. I wouldn't even refer to him as a shredder at all. He's a highly advanced rock player, not shredder. Satch is an excellent, excellent composer and avid user of the pitch axis theory. To call him a tasteless shredder who couldn't write a song to save his life is equivalent to saying Iron Maiden can't do anything but play gallopping riffs in E and go from C to D to E in every song.Suicidehummer said:Same with Satriani and all those tasteless shredders. know it.

Adrian being a huge fan of satch, and influenced by him would probably not go easy on you.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yc8xyL0Xxo Watch that and say that he can't write a song or that he's tasteless. And that tapping in the solo is very very tasteful and very thought through.
Cool. To be precise, he's H's favorite player so he can't be all that bad (along with Gary Moore).Suicidehummer said:Fair enough, I don't listen to him, I just always grouped him in there because he has that look and plays Ibanezes.
Forostar said:I think Dave Murray is one of the very best live performers (from all musicians I can think of), thus is in my opinion very high on guitar ranks.
Steve Harris I also rank very high, surely in his style of music. Very powerful, tight and fast playing. And he created or at popularized the galloping bass. He surely has formed his own sound and style (though he knew damn well where to take his influences from), which any great musician possesses.
Other great bassists with power and feel for melody I appreciate in rock/metal:
Geddy Lee (Rush)
Markus Großkopf (Helloween)
The Helloween bassist is probably less known on this forum than 'Arry and Geddy (Is water wet? Yes it is), but his playing style has been known to include very prominent basslines. Check out his stuff, it's really original and well executed.
Twarkle said:I love Groskopfs playing, and the dude has had to play with a shitload of different drummers throughout his career, but he always sounds great.
How about Doug Pinnick?
wsoul1 said:Dug and the X guys are all fantastic musicians. See them live whenever you can!!!!!
Twarkle said:+1, Mind bogglingly good. They are co-headlining with Accept in the US which seems like a really odd match.
