No, sorry I wouldn't make it that obvious. It's more to do with the person.
 
Right, all are a mile off. You need to know who is in the photo to answer it and I genuinely thought this guy was a bit more of a famous face.

So, to try to make it a little easier, to come to the same song you need to find the connection between the following two actors:

I didn't recognize the first actor, so I looked him up on Wikipedia. Looking through his "filmography" I realized what the solution had to be ...

As an apropos to Nicolas Cage, I can tell that the professor who lectured our class in Inorganic Chemistry looks quite like him (albeit a bit older):

But since I cheated and used Wikipedia, I'm not going to say the answer.
 
It is The Wickerman. And yes, it was Edward Woodward and Nicolas Cage (I chose a picture of Woodward from his Equaliser days as I thought that may help a tad).

The guy in the first picture, by the way, was Alan Whicker - a travel journalist. Obviously, he's not as famous a face as I thought.
 
Oh. I don't think I know who that is. I'd say it is a German or Austrian general from the time period between the late Napoleonic wars and the advent of photography, i.e. mid-19th century, but that's really all I can say about him.
 
I was so focused on the two iron crosses that I didn't think that guy could be Russian. Heh.
