apparently.

I wanted to guess Alexander the Great, due to the infamous 2004-movie, but it doesn't fit the novel clue...

Clue 2 : Maiden featured before John Barnes

Clue 1 :
Maiden's track was released before the most famous adaption of this novel

Incorrect guesses:
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, To Tame a Land, The Ides of March

I got it because of the first clue. Could you explain the second one, please?

Meanwhile...

Clue #1: Hans Zimmer

Phantom of the Opera featured in a very famous ad for Lucozade in the 80's featuring the olympic athlete Daley Thompson. You can find it on youtube if you search for Daley Thompson Lucozade ad.

Another famous Lucozade ad from slightly later than that featured the footballer John Barnes.

The Lion King is based on Hamlet, Hamlet is written by Shakespeare, Shakespeare wrote Macbeth, Macbeth influenced A Tyranny of Souls, ATOS is on an album with Kill Devil Hill, Kill Devil Hill is about airplanes, airplanes are a passion of Bruce's, Bruce has never played Kill Devil Hill live, Bruce is in a band with Steve Harris, Steve Harris wrote a song which has never been played live, therefore the answer is Alexander The Great.

The Man Who Would Be King
Yep. Hans Zimmer composed the Lion King score, which, in itself, features a story vaguely similar to that told through the lyrics of the song, while its soundtrack also features a piece titled "The Rightful King" (which could somehow be applied to the song's overall subject and context).
