GREATEST METAL ALBUM CUP - Winner: Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son!

Discount Cried's vote since he only voted in one pair.
I should have put this in the rules to start, but I didn't. Alas, the vote stands. I need a hero. I'm holding out for a hero till the end of the poll. They've gotta be strong and gotta be fast and gotta click the box just right.

System of a Down - Mezmerise - Haven't heard this album in full, but SOAD's sound appeals to me more than Skid Row's does, and the median average of Mezmerise seems to be higher than that of Skid Row.

Death - Scream Bloody Gore - CoC's sound doesn't do it for me, Death is one of my favorite bands and Scream Bloody Gore is an awesome, ferocious early death metal album. "Zombie Ritual" can get me psyched-up any time.

Nuclear Assault - Game Over - I'll take some fast-paced thrash over Living Colour's funk metal. Haven't heard much from Nuclear Assault, perhaps I should check them out.

Sabbat - Dreamweaver - That track by Sabbat was pretty good - the rawness is appealing and the vocalists' delivery is interesting in a positive way. The other is Pantera, whom I don't care for even when they're at the top of their game and this ain't even that.

That song is better than every album in this game combined. :ninja:

Steinman is just an overall cool writer and Bonnie Tyler was a perfect vessel for him to stream his songs through.

Good work, Flash. You're the hero Bonnie Tyler was holding out for.

Skid Row hung on for a while, but couldn't make it 5 in a row as System of a Down wins. Skid Row will be back with a far more famous album in League 3.
Death overwhelmed Corrosion of Conformity fairly easily. Next, we'll see if they can beat a Maidenfans favourite in Sabaton.
It took a Nuclear Assault, but Living Colour has finally ended their minnow run. That's it for the funk-metal pioneers, and next up is Star One.
Sabbat (not the Japanese one) barely edges out Pantera. Don't worry, Pantera's back in League 12.

I was expecting this one to be a @Mosh nomination!

I'm going to jump in right now before people start whining that Porcupine Tree isn't metal. I'm in agreement that the band itself probably doesn't qualify as metal overall, however this album, (and the ones that followed it as well) certainly has enough metal elements so as not to be completely out of place in a game like this. Just listen to Wedding Nails if you need any convincing. Or Strip the Soul. Or the last half of Gravity Eyelids. And of course Blackest Eyes.

However the real reason I nominated it is because it's fucking awesome. The first two songs and The Sound of Muzak are reason enough for this album to move forward. Prodigal is also definitely worth a listen. And yeah, Trains definitely isn't metal, but it's an incredible song and honestly one of my favorite songs of all time. From any genre.

LC said to just nominate stuff without overthinking, so I didn't think about the "metal" part of the game at the moment. My bad. Still a great album though, so I'm gonna vote for it anyway.

The title of the thread was literally "Greatest Metal Album Cup - Nominations Wanted!".

Metal was pretty clear.

Led Zep over Avenged Sevenfold easily.

Underrated Black Sabbath album vs Pink Floyd, not an easy choice though.

Virgin Steele has better albums, BloodBound is catchy as hell.

Roots is not the Sepultura I prefer, Porcupine Tree is very enyoable.
