GREATEST METAL ALBUM CUP - Winner: Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son!

Power Trip definitely benefits from some good marketing. I think Riley Gale (their singer) is a great promoter, is a solid frontman, and even better hype man. His worst attribute is probably his voice. I agree with Karljant, if you've heard/read the hype about this band you'll probably be underwhelmed. If this is the first you're hearing of them, you're probably in for a pleasant surprise. They have a ton of potential, but the reason I nominated them is that after three years, I am still excited when I hear any of the songs on this album.
Already knew Manifest Decimation and really didn't dig it and prefer Nightmare Logic way more.
Plus I forgot to add another positive note to my remarks: Power Trip is one of very few neo crossover bands that isn't a DRI, Suicidal, SOD or early Anthrax absolute clone. These guys' sound surely results from a mix of influences (as it should be), but they manage to mutate it into something with its own DNA.

I know The Sound Of Perseverance is bound to fall eventually, but it would be amazing if that album — one of the first to join the game — ended up winning overall. What a streak that’d be.

Holy shit, did we just completely agree on something, @karljant ...? LOL.
Correction: we PICKED the same albums. As for agreeing.... far from it (here's why)
Power Trip (...) is a little too close for comfort to parts of the first couple of Metallica albums
This Death album (...) I can’t believe that I’ve voted for it this many times in a row.
Grand Magus (...) vocals are a bit amateurish
The Megadeth album is uneven
This Primordial album is a bit samey (...) The singer also isn’t very good, overly raspy to my ears and often going off key.
absolute train wreck of an album by Possessed

It'll be curious to see how far it goes. That being said, it's not even the strongest Death album, Symbolic would probably take it out if they were to match up.

It would be curious and although I think it's only a couple of small steps behind the top metal albums of all times I seriously wouldn't be outraged if it won the whole thing ... far from it . The album is really something and although it's not even my favorite Death record (that one's featured it in my list and, since I only picked 1 album per band, it was one hell of a quandary to decide between Symbolic and Individual Thought Patterns - the later prevailed) it's a monument and seriously portraits how amazing Death's legacy is. I'll go as far as saying that with the exception of Spiritual Healing all records are worthy to appear in this game. Hell, i digress... even Spiritual Healing should be featured... it has James Murphy and some great moments.

Dunno about that. Haven’t listened to Symbolic in a while but when I was a hardcore Death fan TSOP was always my fave (it was my favorite album overall for some time, too). I relistened to it not that long ago and was really surprised at how well it still stands up for me. The musicianship is incredible. Oughta give Symbolic another spin soon. See how much has changed.

Power Trip I liked more than I had anticipated. The lyrics were maybe a bit naive. Katatonia's music was going in a lot of directions at the same time, but was still too katatonisk for me.

Bullet for My Valentine: Didn't really like the style of the music, but the rhythm was cool. There was something touching about the story & lyrics, especially this bit:
"I was told to stay away
Those two words I can't obey"
If I'm completely honest, when I saw Death was coming up, my first thought was "do I really need to listen to them again?" Apologies to all friends of Death, but this doesn't seem to be my cup of tea.

Grand Magus didn't really open up for me, and the lyrics didn't resonate with me at all. Megadeth, on the other hand, I love, although this is not one of my favourite albums from them.

The last pair was tough. Really didn't know which one to vote. Primordial was pompous, but it seemed good quality, too long though. The lyrics were extremely somber. Possessed is not for me at all. I couldn't make a decision, so I consulted dice, and they indicated Primordial. :)

That sounds like it's about a stalker.
It does yeah, if you look at it that way. :) When removed from their context, it brought to my mind a person who knows they shouldn't approach someone, but the love just doesn't go away, no matter what you do. If I got the right impression, the text as a whole isn't really about that though.

The correct action. I keep a handful of dice handy for this purpose.
Definitely! I write fiction, and I often use the dice to decide what the fate of the characters will be. This was the first time I used them for Metal Album Cup though. I had some difficult choices before, but was able to decide in the end!

A lot of tough decisions this round.

Power Trip in the first match in what was an extremely difficult decision.

Bullet is getting a pity vote from me, even though Death's perseverance is inevitable.

This was my first time listening to Grand Magus and I was quite impressed. They get the edge over a weaker Megadeth album.

I'm not in love with either of the albums in the last match, but I'd rather listen to Primordial again than the Possed album, so Primordial it is.
