GREATEST METAL ALBUM CUP - Winner: Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son!

We used to have a band called Rotting Cock here. Found them while surfing through a database of Estonian metal bands as a kiddo. I was exposed to a lot of weird shit in childhood...

I saw on a forum one time a 7 inch called "acts of excremental terrorism against the holy trinity", the cover was a photograph of a religious statue that had been smeared with shite.

Systematic Chaos (the first two songs on the Rainbow album kick ass, though.)

Easy Ayreon. I loved this song when I listened sometime ago (from one of the threads, maybe the Now Playing thread) but not in the mood.

Bolt Thrower easily.

Sabbat easily, I already checked out the other Sabbat album because of how good this is. ;)

Dream Theater stops Rainbow in their tracks. Ritchie Blackmore's rock project is still alive in the Match 26 stream.
Ayreon knocks Anaal Nathrakh out of the tournament fairly easily. Insomnium is next.
Motherfucking Bolt Thrower crushes Nuclear Assault, ending their deep GMAC run. Next up is Soundgarden.
Anthrax beats Sabbat. They're back in League 8.

Testament - only really familiar with their early albums, so never heard this one, this track sounds exactly like their early stuff though. I possibly seen them on this tour if it was the tour they opened for Priest, with Megadeth also on the bill. A distinctive band in a genre that is often formulaic, having a singer with a recognizable voice and the best lead guitarist of the genre helps them stand out from the crowd.

King Diamond - opinion given before

Testament with the win

Periphery - never heard of these, riff ok, vocal bad, sounds like a band that would be on the bill at Donington during the afternoon that I wouldn't have a clue about but all the teeny boppers in the crowd would be going nuts for.

Megadeth - intro kinda bad, bass part picks up, sounds like the System has Failed vibe during the verses then changes to a Black Friday rip off part when the flatline sound effect comes in

Megadeth with the win

Slipknot - intro ok, track too nu-metally for me, it's a bit tidier and more musical than nu-metal usually is, but the vibe is still ultimately nu-metal and as the old saying goes, you can't polish a turd

Iron Maiden - opinion given before

Iron Maiden with the win

Ensiferum - Music ok, vocal silly

Deep Purple - opinion given before

Deep Purple with the win
