How on earth did they miss a trick for the AMOLAD cover and not had Eddie be a head sitting on the tank, which was the inspiration for his creation in the first place? Eddie may as well not even be on that cover, it’s like Where’s Wally trying to find him amongst the other zombies. Eddie must be the centrepiece of the album art, that’s the whole point.

I always will say that the corpse on the right bottom looks like sharon osbourne after the egg incident they did the same as margaret tacher and i remember zome people said the same here in 2006.
 
Looking at the early 2000s album covers it kinda felt like they tried to not focus as much on Eddie. Up to VXI he was almost always very prominent. On BNW he has a cool design imo (one of my favorites) but he's just a cloud in the top half of the image. On DOD he's right in the middle, but surrounded by a million CGI characters. On AMOLAD he's a relatively small part of the overall image. It took until TFF for him to be prominent on album covers again. Live albums and compilations are a bit different, where DOTR or SBIT featured him prominently, while F666 didn't at all.

Though I must say, I like the AMOLAD cover a lot. Given the theme it fits that he's just another part of a bigger whole. An army consists of multiple people as well after all, and waging war without an army is rarely a good idea.

TFF has two prominent figures on the cover and neither of them even look like Eddie. It wasn’t until TBOS that we got an Eddie-centric cover again.

True, that's because Melvyn Grant designed the creature on the cover as not being Eddie in the first place. Though canonically (as in, Rod said so lol) it is Eddie anyways.

I don't think it's that different from Eddie, the most, yes.
The are some drawings in TFF's booklet that look like the old Eddie, but none of them (granted, most likely unfinished) are better (or more memorable, although there is one good, curious and classic alien style) than the actual alien Eddie. It's just that the cover doesn't use his potential. They clearly wanted something different, given the singles' art approach.

Which is a surprise, or they just wanted something different (like in 1992-1995) and to add more details (before that only 4 or 5 covers are with noticeable details; which is ironic for the last two covers). DOD, AMOLAD and TFF covers - all could have had more focus on Eddie with the same details and figures in the backgrounds. As a ''storytelling arts'', BNW and AMOLAD are top.

I seem to remember Janick could not be there because his dad had passed away and Tony Newton (at the time bass player in Dirty Deeds and - more importantly - one of Steve’s footie mates) stood in for him as a replacement on that TV show and another one in Spain.

So, Tony Newton isn't just part of the Maiden family because he has produced some of their live material. Technically, he was practically a band member during a few interviews. Now that's a mind-boggling piece of information to process.

But what if, in reality, he was also Janick's stand-in for a few live shows? Disguised beneath a giant Janick-style wig, of course. I bet he was even dancing, spinning, and prancing across the stage. Absolutely scandalous!

The actual tour had not started in mars 1998, they just travelled around Europe and did some promotion.
Here in, Spain:
 
The start of the tour was a month later in France and Janick clearly plays his solo here:

Fortunes of War was only performed there btw.

And the TV-performances was just "lip synch" for Blaze as well, and Newton just pretended to play.

Fuck My Old Boots, that changes (-love changes-) everything! He's in Maiden lore for real. Practically a lost fourth Amigo. In light of that... There was a discussion a while ago about Richie Faulkner maybe replacing Dave or another guitarist down the line. How silly... It's clear as day that Steve, in that scenario, would bring in Tony Newton, with whom he's already worked and has great chemistry. Forget the auditions - Steve has all he may need. :ninja:

Was it not a case of he became a footie mate because of Dirty Deeds support slot rather than the other way round
