Something interesting that Dave said about Wheels, he said that the fans hate it, but people who are kinda new to the band like it. Which I can see why, like I said, I was scared when Wheels was new, but in retrospect, I like it.
A320. Maybe it's the prog fan in me talking, I read an interview yesterday where Dave said that this was the closest Foos got to being a prog band, but I really do think this would be my favorite. Dave Grohl says that it is his favorite song as well, though he says that about quite a few songs. It starts out very pretty, everything good about a Foo Fighters ballad. It even has an odd and interesting chord progression, and Dave's voice is great. Then it gets exciting. It almost turns into program music, to me at least. When I hear that heavy bit kick in, I think of the plane going down, how suddenly the song changes form, and then it goes into one of the best outros I've ever heard. To me, it's a perfectly formed song. It's a shame that most people don't know it.
For b-sides, I also like Winnebago, How I Miss You, Dear Lover, and The One. Not all of these are actual b-sides, bonus songs would be a better word. A320 was on the Godzilla soundtrack, because they felt it had no commercial potential. The One was a single but not on an album, it was on the soundtrack to the film Orange County. Wheels and Word Forward were recorded for the Greatest Hits album, and Wheels was also a single IIRC.
Stacked Actors, Learn to Fly, Generator — what happened to the Nothing Left to Lose?
Ah damn it. I guess I thought those songs got promoted too, this will be fixed next round.
