Led Zeppelin - Song Remains the Same. The best hard rock band ever at the height of their powers.
U2 - Live at Red Rocks - Urgent, passionate and hard-edged in the early years
Two no brainers and must includes when it comes to all time best live albums on my list.
Slayer - Live Undead
It's a studio recording with some audience (shouting like hell but just a handful of guys).

So here are 20 of some of my favorites (there are some more but these are among the greatest for sure):
  • MC5 - Kick Out The Jams
  • Deep Purple - Made In Japan
  • Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains The Same
  • Judas Priest - Unleashed In The East (yes... even with all the overdubs)
  • U2 - Under A Blood Red Sky
  • The Cult - Dreamtime Live At The Lyceum
  • Napalm Death - Live Corruption
  • The Young Gods - Live Sky Tour
  • Depeche Mode - Songs Of Faith And Devotion Live
  • Pink Floyd - Pulse
  • Alice In Chains - Unplugged
  • Black Sabbath - Reunion
  • Kreator - Live Kreation
  • Nine Inch Nails - And All That Could Have Been
  • Gary Numan - Scarred: Live At The Brixton Academy
  • Primordial - All Empires Fall
  • Voivod - Warriors Of Ice
  • Peter Murphy - Wild Birds Live Tour
  • Devin Townsend - Ziltoid Live At The Royal Albert Hall
  • Cult Of Luna and Julie Christmas - Mariner Live At The Kreun
  • Obscure Sphinx - Thaumaturgy I

Yeah I know, it still get's a fair amount of listening from me though.
Also like it a lot. IMO the songs sound way better than in Show No Mercy. It's a pity there's no way to isolate the "audience" noise and that it doesn't features Fight Till Death.

Bob Dylan - "The Royal Albert Hall 1966 Show"
Neil Young - Live Rust
Neil Young - Weld
The Velvet Underground - Live 1969 Vol 1 and Vol 2
Frank Zappa - Roxy and Elsewhere
Frank Zappa - Zappa In New York
Grateful Dead - Europe '72
Lou Reed - Rock N Roll Animal

There are tons of Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa, Neil Young, Velvet Underground and Grateful Dead shows released later on in box sets that are great.

I'm not a big fan of live albums, but Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous is fantastic, and I will never get tired of Motörhead's No Sleep 'till Hammersmith and Scorpions' Tokyo Tapes.

Joe Satriani's "Live in San Francisco" is fine. And everything ever recorded live by Hardcore legends SHAI HULUD. Plenty to find via You Tube.

Devin Townsend - Z2 Live at the Royal Albert Hall
Pink Floyd - Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall Live 1980-81
Roger Waters - In The Flesh Live
Gojira - Live at Brixton
