European Politics

I intensely hate certain conservative people in Turkey....

Some youth listen to the new Radiohead album, and drink some beer. Then a crew with with sticks and bottles enters. Strongly religious men who won't accept that the guys drink beer during Ramadan. Eating and drinking during Ramadan is not forbidden by law in Turkey
One of the people beaten up:

"If we can't eat, neithet should you!". Those people should be in prison, but I'm afraid they're more likely to receive a medal.

Gay Pride was banned by the city governorate last week, it's not going to happen. A walk still took place under death threats by Islamic groups but both the attackers and the Pride participators were dissolved by the cops.

I'd use the word Islamists instead of conservatives, Foro. Conservatism is way too "normal" of a term to use to refer to these rats.

I'm just so terrified if we vote Leave. I've never felt so strongly about a political vote as I have to Remain in the EU.

I would just call them terrorists because that's what terrorists do - disable people to engage in activities allowed by law. Conservatives isn't very descriptive because Turkey has 100 years of statehood and you can be nation-state conservative. It's also possible to share all views with these bullies but not actually engage in any physical attacks or similar, a religious fundamentalist. Not that those aren't dangerous - even more so than these primitive terrorists, because their demagogy indoctrinates fragile brains. Mullahs of more extreme Islamic branches lead the ranks here, they just 'interpret the Islamic writings' and consider themselves scholars, but the problem is that Mullah is not an actual Islamic title. So you have them in Bosnia recruiting for ISIS but Bosnian chief Islamic institutions don't have a shit on them because they're not their authority and can't really help the law and order institutions of Bosnia.

Anyhow, you need to take care of the problem at it's root, these bullies are only dumb tools of hate preachers.

All listen to Peter Gabriel:

So - In or Out?
This is an enormously important moment for our country, for the future of Europe and for the peace of the world.

It’s all too easy to forget Europe’s bloody history. There is nothing more important to our country and our families than securing and maintaining peace.

Isolating the UK puts us at risk and a Brexit may start a chain reaction that rapidly spreads nationalism, isolationism and racism across Europe, breaking it up for good - and leaving it so weak that those with dark ambitions see a Brexit vote as a green light - Putin, for example, might well continue what he has already started in Ukraine into the Baltic States and beyond without any real risk of retribution.

Together, Europe is an economic political and military presence that must be listened to.

It is pure fantasy to imagine we could have that sort of clout on our own.

Those days are long gone.

Immigration brings up real issues and fears which need to be urgently addressed across Europe, but each country creating their own completely disconnected policies will cause havoc and extraordinary suffering, with each country once again living behind barricades, fences and walls. I don’t believe those wanting Out really want to live like that.

We need to reform Brussels from the inside where we have some real influence, once out, we would still have to follow most of what Brussels requires of us in order to trade with Europe, without any means of changing what we don’t like.

There are also many examples of trans-European projects that are already paying off, in science, healthcare, technology, energy, transport and space, these would be badly impacted if we return to the old ways with every country funding and creating its own independent nationalistic project.

There are some football players who daydream that they could win their matches entirely on their own, in reality, they do much better as part of a team. So will we.

We can choose a backward-looking world that is based on hate, fear and isolation or a forward-looking world that is based on hope, trust and collaboration.
Please vote for hope.

Socialite Joan Collins, Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden and model Elizabeth Hurley are just some of the array of celebrities planting their flags in the ‘Leave’ Camp.

Why not listen to Bruce, he is a better singer :) and Hurley is hot

But probably a better way to go, ignore celebrities, politicians, and pundits ... read up on the issue from source material and non hyper partisan news sources ... and make up your own mind. There are pros and cons to every choice .. it really comes down to people deciding which side the pros outweigh the cons through the prism of which issues are most important to that person.

Common knowledge that Bruce is a Eurosceptic.

I remember there was a fuss about Face In The Sand regarding Maiden pushing a Conservative agenda, but I honestly never picked up on it. Still one of the best songs from Dance of Death.

With Bruce, it's the aviation and industry regulations he disagrees with. His VVB airline is registered in Malta.

I still say Gabriel summed it up well. He certainly brings in important matters. The most important to be honest. Every sentence is a bulls eye. He may be a known celebrity but this man is a voter too and very worried that populist nonsense make people forget what this is really about.

I read that a lot of people in Scotland came out to vote. Most Scots would vote for remaining in the EU.

And I read there were lots of problems elsewhere in the UK due to bad weather.

Excellent!
