They are also visiting a lot of places they haven't played in a long time.

Listening to Venom and heard a familiar sounding chord progression.

Similar production values too. :D

Portnoy has been hinting at Adrenaline Mob appearing at his birthday bash performance thing. Why should you care?

Because it means Russell Allen is available to sing The Glass Prison.

That would literally be the greatest thing I could ever possibly imagine.

Dream Theater have just released a version of "Our New World" with Lzzy Hale singing the female parts.

This should be blowing my mind as I'm a huge fan of Halestorm, but I think she botched it here...

Her harmonies in the chorus sound very nice, but definitely not the right voice for the verse (although I do like her melody changes to make it sound a little more bluesy).

Regardless: I would love to hear the whole album like this. I want to hear other voices doing all the characters. I suspect it would enhance the album overall to be more theatrical in it's recorded presentation.

That would be great. Or a special edition re-release of the album? All of the work by the band is done, so why not? Just bring in a bunch of hired guns (*cough* Russell Allen *cough*), have them record at home in their own studios, send the stems online, voila - new version of The Astonishing!

So watching Live At Luna Park made me curious how many songs have actually been represented in a live DVD. I enjoy seeing what bands have and haven't played live, with DT that is kind of useless because there are only a few unplayed songs, so here's a list of songs, by album, that haven't been included on a DVD. Bolded songs are ones that have been included on a YtseJam DVD. Italicized songs are ones that haven't been played live. These are only DVDs released since Jordan joined the band. I am also not taking into account The Astonishing since there hasn't been a DVD for the tour yet. I'm sure the whole album will be put on a DVD release anyway.

*represents a grey area. These songs were included in the Score dvd as bonus tracks, so technically they were included on a DVD, but I ultimately decided against counting them because they were excerpts of different concerts, not the concert recorded for the main DVD (like the bonus tracks on Live Scenes and Luna Park).

Percentage of DT's discography not represented on official DVDs: 27%

Percentage of DT's discography not represented on official DVDs or YtseJam DVDs: 18%

Are there any other bands that have covered this much of their discography on live video releases? Would be fun to do the same thing with Maiden some time.

A cover showing how cool TA could be with multiple singers:

Although, that "music player" part is still terrible.

Okay, this made me actually think I'm glad they did not do that. It's, like 1000x sappier. There are female singers who could pull this song off (I'm thinking Kate Bush, Floor, the usual), but this is too much. Where's Anette when you need her? Cool they tried to do it, but no for me. The "music pl/rayer" part is so much worse - I actually didn't mind the original that much (at least not as much as Bug)
