Create your own Iron Maiden setlist!

I was thinking what could be the next tour...and I saw a pattern. Before Future Past they did the LotB which was a kinda "best of" tour. Before that it was the Book of Souls one and before the BoS it was Maiden England ( another best of one with an emphasis on SSOASS and the live of that period), before that it was Final Frontier and then Somewhere Back in Time. They do a tour based on an album and then a best of tour.
Future Past is based on two albums, but I still think the next one will be a "best of" tour, but I have a feeling it will be a "best of" with some deep cuts. Maybe some Future Past track stay for the next setlist as well.
This is the tour I wish to see live in 2024-2025:
1. Moonchild ( The 2nd best opening track imo after CSiT which unfortunately won't come back)
2. Prowler ( I really wanna see it live)
3. 22 Acacia Avenue ( I really wanna see it live)
4. The Clairvoyant
5. Dance of Death ( It's one of my favs of the reunion era so why not)
6. No Prayer for the Dying ( weird one, it's the only song I like from that album)
7. Hell on Earth ( I love the song and it takes the place of the one epic)
8. Out of the Silent Planet or Dream of Mirrors or Ghost of the Navigator ( or any BNW song that isn't Blood Brothers)
9. Alexander the Great ( the second deep cut that stays from FP tour, I think they should play it one more time)
10. The Rime of the Ancient Mariner ( no need to say something about this one)
11. Hallowed Be Thy Name ( It has to come back imo)
12. Iron Maiden

13. Caught Somewhere in Time ( I tried not to put it in, but fuck it's my fav one)
14. The Evil that men do
15. The Trooper

To sum it up, I kept 5 songs from the FP tour: Iron Maiden, Trooper that I have to include and Hell on Earth, CSiT and Alex because I love them.
I know 666 and Run to the hills will be surely included in the next tour, but I'm bored of them and I make the setlist. Fear of the Dark needs to take a rest.

''Senjutsu World Tour'' 2021 (if it had happened) - with the stage set they used for LOTB 2022.

*the setlist is inspired by the songs from the current tour, some of Bruce and Steve's comments from 2021, some song/s rumours and Nicko's solo band show in 2022 (some of his comments too).

1.Senjutsu
2.Stratego
3.The Writing On The Wall
4.Sun And Steel
5.Only The Good Die Young
6.The Time Machine
7.The Parchment
8.The Prisoner
9.Stranger In A Strange Land
10.Alexander The Great
11.Fear Of The Dark
12.Iron Maiden
Encore:
13.Hell On Earth
14.The Trooper
15.Hallowed Be Thy Name/The Clairvoyant/Rime Of The Ancient Mariner/Murders In The Rue Morgue/Killers/Brave New World

I'm trying to guess their original tour idea for the album. Debut of 3 ''old'' songs! Wow. Hallowed is the only possible show closer from the last group of songs.

Do you like the set? I think it's great.

Somewhere Back In Time and Maiden England re-imagined. I think SBIT could have had a focus mainly on Powerslave and Somewhere In Time (Caught Somewhere In Time and Alexander The Great excluded so they have a reason for the Future Past tour), and then they could have done Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son on the Maiden England tour.

Somewhere Back In Time
1. Aces High
2. 2 Minutes To Midnight
3. Sea Of Madness
4. Revelations
5. The Trooper
6. Flash Of The Blade
7. Run To The Hills
8. Stranger In A Strange Land
9. Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
10. Powerslave
11. Heaven Can Wait
12. Deja-Vu
13. Iron Maiden
----------------------------------------------
14. The Number Of The Beast
15. Wasted Years
16. Hallowed Be Thy Name

Maiden England
1. Moonchild
2. Can I Play With Madness
3. The Prisoner
4. Infinite Dreams
5. Afraid To Shoot Strangers
6. The Evil That Men Do
7. Killers
8. Phantom Of The Opera
9. Still Life
10. Children Of The Damned
11. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
12. The Clairvoyant
13. Fear Of The Dark
14. Iron Maiden
--------------------------------------------
15. The Number Of The Beast
16. The Trooper
17. Running Free

They could have a "Killers On The Frontier Tour" with a focus on the "Killers" album and "The Final Frontier" album with a setlist along these lines:

Satellite 15....The Final Frontier
El Dorado
Wrathchild
Coming Home
Murders In The Rue Morgue
Brave New World
Killers
The Writing On The Wall
Another Life
Still Life
The Talisman
Starblind
Fear of the Dark
Iron Maiden

Encore:

Number of the Beast
Drifter

I'd go with something like this:
  1. Senjutsu (debut at the time)
  2. Stratego (debut at the time)
  3. Wrathchild
  4. Infinite Dreams
  5. Montségur (debut)
  6. The Writing On The Wall (debut at the time)
  7. Fortunes Of War (debut with Dickinson)
  8. The Trooper
  9. The Days Of Future Past (debut at the time)
  10. Lost In A Lost World (debut)
  11. Back In The Village (debut)
  12. Alexander The Great (debut at the time)
  13. Fear Of The Dark
  14. Iron Maiden
____________________________________
  1. Hell On Earth (debut at the time)
  2. The Number Of The Beast
  3. Wasted Years
So there you go... 6 new songs from Senjuts, 3 past album debuts (Montségur, Back In The Village and Alexander The Great), a debut with Bruce in Fortunes Of War, a blast from the past in Infinite Dreams and a handful of the usual classics (IM, Wrathchild, TNOTB, Trooper, WY and FOTD).

I'd go with something like this:
  1. Senjutsu (debut at the time)
  2. Stratego (debut at the time)

Parchment? I want to hear every SJ song live. Montségur is not an easy song for Bruce.

What will you say about this?

''50th Anniversary Tour'' 2025-2026 (with rarities/deep cuts and a few staples).

1.Be Quick Or Be Dead
2.The Clairvoyant (it was part of the LOTB 2018 tour poster hints)
3.Still Life (or DWYBO) (very popular deep cut)
4.Infinite Dreams (they almost played it in 2012)
5.Killers (Bruce is a fan of the album)
6.To Tame A Land (or DOD/TROBB, both are very popular songs)
7.Futureal (or BNW)
8.No Prayer For The Dying/Wasting Love
9.Rime Of The Ancient Mariner/Phantom Of The Opera (Bruce is a big fan of both)
10.Only The Good Die Young (Steve's comment)
11.Fear Of The Dark
12.Iron Maiden
Encore:
13.Brave New World (or TNOTB )
14.The Trooper
15.Hallowed Be Thy Name

And there are still songs that could be taken into account like Rainmaker, GOTN, The Mercenary, Sun And Steel, Moonchild, Dream Of Mirrors, OOTSP, No More Lies, TCDR, Coming Home, DOG, Tailgunner...

I think it would be a popular set and a possible one. BQOBD is the only opener left to be brought back (or Tailgunner), while To Tame A Land is the popular epic the fans want. It's also about time they play some songs from the (early) 90's. I tried to include the most popular deep cuts and the ones I think the band will want to play. Songs from all eras.

2.The Clairvoyant (it was part of the LOTB 2018 tour poster hints)

...was it? I believe it was definitely in the pool of songs they built the set from, and probably still is among the songs they seriously consider for any set, really, but I didn't see any clear, straightforward and/or confirmed hint for it in the 2018 tour poster.

I would love to see that one again, though, especially on such a fresh setlist spot. :) Loved it in 2013!

Parchment?
It's ok but a bit long and not one of my favorites. Hey it's a good song but not the one I'd pick.

All great songs. I'm all aboard. BQOBD is a monster, Clairvoyant is a superb cut and Infinite Dreams is easily on my top 20. As for the rest I love "Boots" but Still Life is top notch IMO so I'd go with the latter. The same works for "DOD": it's also a great song but in my book both Benjamin Breeg and To Tame A Land are two of the best tracks the band has ever penned.

7.Futureal (or BNW)
Futureal is really cool. BNW on the other hand is a song that IMO starts almost flawlessly but once the first refrain kicks in it all goes south... so no, thanks.

8.No Prayer For The Dying/Wasting Love
I really like No Prayer. On the other hand Wasting Love is firmly among what I consider to be the five worst Maiden songs.

9.Rime Of The Ancient Mariner/Phantom Of The Opera (Bruce is a big fan of both)
10.Only The Good Die Young (Steve's comment)
Contrasting with the last track ROTAM and POTO are firmly on my top 5. I'd pick both. OTGDY is also an hell of a song so I absolutely love it.

11.Fear Of The Dark
12.Iron Maiden
I mean... it doesn't matter either you like them or not: they'll always play them. Besides being massively overplayed IMO they're both far from being bad songs by any means possible (albeit far from my top choices). So yeah... what the hell... why not?

13.Brave New World (or TNOTB )
14.The Trooper
15.Hallowed Be Thy Name
Once again BNW is a "no no" in my book. TNOTB, Trooper and HBTN are all great classics (and also overplayed as hell). Nonetheless unlike the first two I really grew tired of HBTN. Don't get me wrong... it's an awesome song but somehow I can no longer listen to it. I really don't know the reason why but that's the truth. Perhaps due to the fact of the other two being shorter, I don't know.

Rainmaker, GOTN, The Mercenary, Sun And Steel, Moonchild, Dream Of Mirrors, OOTSP, No More Lies, TCDR, Coming Home, DOG, Tailgunner...
Moonchild and TCDR are also top notch tunes as far as I'm concerned. Really love Tailgunner, Rainmaker and No More Lies and OOTSP and DOG are also really enjoyable. I think GOTN, Sun And Steel and Coming Home are merely ok, Mercenary's a bit meh and from this list my only beef is with Dream Of Mirrors.

Overall taking in account the main setlist I think it has really good picks! One that I'd surely enjoy a lot if played live, provided that Wasting Love was ditched (BNW I can still listen to despite not being too fond of it but WL there's no way I'll ever like it). I'd go with:

  1. Be Quick Or Be Dead
  2. Futureal
  3. Infinite Dreams
  4. The Trooper
  5. Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
  6. Still Life
  7. Killers
  8. To Tame A Land
  9. Only The Good Die Young
  10. No Prayer For The Dying
  11. Phantom Of The Opera (why just one when you can have both?)
  12. Fear Of The Dark
  13. Iron Maiden
________________________________________________________________________
  1. The Number Of The Beast
  2. The Clairvoyant
  3. Hallowed Be Thy Name

Do I think it lacks songs from some of their best records (SIT, TXF and AMOLAD)? Yes. Does it lack completely on 21st century Maiden? Also. But nonetheless it's a pretty good and well balanced set of great songs. :edmetal:

To be fair if the guys would make a farewell tour I would go for a much more classic and hit driven setlist, with the last show being extra long with the band at least 1 song from each album. Something like this:

  1. The Number Of The Beast
  2. Wrathchild
  3. Two Minutes To Midnight
  4. The Writing On The Wall
  5. The Trooper
  6. Coming Home
  7. Phantom Of The Opera
  8. Man On The Edge
  9. Futureal
  10. These Colours Don't Run
  11. Rainmaker
  12. Can I Play With Madness
  13. Death Or Glory
  14. Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter
  15. Fear Of The Dark
  16. Iron Maiden
Encore 1:
  1. The Wicker Man
  2. Wasted Years
  3. Sanctuary
Encore 2:
  1. Hallowed Be Thy Name
  2. Run To The Hills
  3. Running Free

With Legacy Of The Beast and The Future Past bringing back good number of more rare songs I thought of a tour with only songs that haven't been played for 10+ years.

In the sequence of a thread about what sixth Blaze records track we'd like to see Bruce sing live live I came out with an era setlist:

The Virtual Factor Tour:
  1. Man On The Edge
  2. Lord Of The Flies
  3. Wrathchild
  4. Fortunes Of War
  5. The Trooper
  6. The Educated Fool
  7. Judgement Of Heaven
  8. Futureal
  9. The Edge Of Darkness
  10. Two Minutes To Midnight
  11. Sign Of The Cross
  12. Judgement Day (they wouldn't play it for sure so something like The Evil That Men Do instead)
  13. Fear Of The Dark
  14. Íron Maiden
Encore:
  1. The Number Of The Beast
  2. The Clansman
  3. Wasted Years

The Future Past - leg 2
The idea is to replace some songs from leg #1 with "equivalent" songs in terms of date of release and of category (classic, obscure...).
This selection would enable Maiden to release a Senjutsu Live album AND a Somewhere in Time live album, using recordings from both legs.
The only really unrealistic thing would be to believe the guys would bother to rehearse TWO more songs that were never played live (or just once in the case of TLOTLDR). It would also cost a bundle in new back drops, but the band can certainly afford it.

1. Caught Somewhere in Time
2. Stranger in a Strange Land
3. Stratego
4. Days of Future Past
5. Lost in a Lost World
6. The Number of the Beast or The Trooper
7. Darkest Hour
8. The Evil That Men Do

10. The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
11. Fear of the Dark
12. Iron Maiden

15. Wasted Years

Interesting concept and here's my take on it, even though I don't think they would change the setlist for the next leg, not this much anyway. I think the Somewhere In Time part would stay the same and out of the Senjutsu part I think the only song that might be swapped is Death Of The Celts for The Parchment.

Future Past Tour 2024 "LOTB-ified" version (for territories that missed LOTB due to the pandemic)

1. Caught Somewhere In Time
2. Stranger In A Strange Land
3. The Writing On The Wall
4. The Time Machine
5. Senjutsu
6. The Trooper
7. The Clansman
8. Alexander The Great
9. Revelations
10. Sign of the Cross
11. Heaven Can Wait
12. Fear of the Dark
13. Iron Maiden
--------------------------
14. Hell On Earth
15. The Number of the Beast
16. Wasted Years

I do not in any way think this will happen, but it's interesting to think about.

A few changes I'd make for TFP 2, shuffling around a few songs to help the pacing and swapping a couple out. Pure fantasy of course.

1 Caught Somewhere In Time
2 Stranger In A Strange Land
3 Days Of Future Past
4 The Writing On The Wall
5 Sea Of Madness
6 The Time Machine
7 The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner
8 Hell On Earth
9 The Prisoner
10 Bring Your Daughter... To The Slaughter
11 Fear Of The Dark
12 Iron Maiden
-------------------
13 Alexander The Great
14 The Trooper
15 Hallowed Be Thy Name
