#411. A girl's name. - "Rosie" by Jackson Browne.

Slash plays guitar on this song. (+3 to nush)
#422. Velvet Revolver, "Fall To Pieces"

Hmm if that's the answer, then I think this was a somewhat misleading clue, because I would have thought Slash is a guest performer here. Velvet Revolver was his own band.
So, nush: lucky guess mate (I still think mine was better)! ;)

#427. Steely Dan, "Reelin' In The Years"
OK, Caught Somewhere in Time was a little bit ambitious but it's all I could of thought of at the time - but that track was never really going to be higher than Number of the Beast, was it. That said, I really should of got that one. It was one of those tracks I so distinctly remember from being played to death in a bar I used to work in back in the 80's.

#418. Happens every week. Monday Morning - Fleetwood Mac
#411. A girl's name. Angie - Stones
#413. What you say after you activate the self-destruct. Run to the Hills

My thinking here was that I didn't know any songs which Slash guest performed on (I went the same thought process as you originally) and then that the phrasing of the question implied it wasn't a GnR song as that's what he's best known for.

It's like a cryptic crossword this quiz, trying to work out how the compiler's mind works.

#419. He doesn't want a duck-feather jacket. (1)
Denim and Leather - Saxon

#418. Happens every week. (2)
Saturday Night - Herman Brood (& His Wild Romance);

#412. Beginning of a letter. (2)
Dear Prudence - The Beatles

#411. A girl's name. (4)
Rosanna - Toto

So basically you were lucky because you did not know of the existence of his Lenny Kravitz collaboration.
Or I was unlucky that I did know about this collaboration.

Damn. Lack of knowledge comes in handy it seems.  :)

I would have come up with a different clue if it was a song of Slash's own band.
So that's why I thought it was a bit misleading (even if it was unintentional).

I've got to get on this thread earlier.
I am going to have to quote Cornfed on 420 (Townshend)  and 419 (ELO) Great clues SMX. And 415 (Bad Company) as well.
Given my track record versus his, I should probably quote them all, but here goes...
418 Saturday Night's All Right For Fighting (Elton John)
416 Evil Woman (ELO)
414 Dancing in the Dark (Springsteen)
413 Should I Stay Or Should I Go? (The Clash)
412 For What It's Worth (Buffalo Springfield)
411 Lola (The Kinks)

cornfedhick hit a grand slam. 9 out of 10. 26 points.

All you guys had to do was quote him... you'd have earned 17 points.

I don't think it's cool to earn points with double guesses, so I rather try to be original with my shitty amount of correct guesses.  :)

But then half the contest would be making sure you're online when SMX posts the clues. ;) If I get the same answers independently I have no such reservations getting a bonus point.

#410: The Clash - Should I Stay or Should I Go (Is the 3rd time I've guessed this song? Probably won't be on the list at all)
#408: The Beatles - Revolution
#407: Paul McCartney - Band on the Run
#406: The Kinks - All Day and All of the Night
#403: Led Zeppelin - Going to California

I understand your point of view. But I am not trying to win the total quiz (I am not able anyway), just pointing out that I rather do guesses which others haven't done yet.

#403: The Mama's & the Papa's - California Dreamin'

Being the first to guess is indeed a problem. I considered running this game by PM for that reason, but I thought public posting would be more fun.

Problem is, if you post a correct guess second, I don't know if you really got it on your own or if you're copying. So it makes sense for first post to get a bonus point.

If you do want to time yourself, I update this game in the afternoon (Denver time) which is late night in Europe. I do it after Survivor updates; when you see those happening, watch this space next.
