Bruce took parts of G. K. Chesterton's "Hymn" to write "Revelations". That was pretty cool, but the bastard couldn't stop there. In 1998, for The Chemical Wedding album, he decided to take the song many believe should be the English national anthem, re-wrote song of it, and added extra bits, to create one of the greatest compositions he's ever done. "Jerusalem" is beautiful and heartfelt, and I think Blake would've been proud. Excellent song.

Is this the biggest surprise in the Top 10? I think so. A worthy contender but I'd no idea people liked it this much! This acoustic track is an incredibly emotional closer, and succeeds, I think, where "Omega" fails. But then, "Omega" is still in the running, so that's probably just me.

I'm with you on the surprise, I like it but I don't think it's a top 10 track even from the 2 albums I've listened to so far (AoB and TCW). I'd swap it with Taking the Queen.

However I completely disagree with your comments on Omega, I don't think it's necessarily supposed to be "beautiful" rather epic, just like Darkside, even if both have melodic parts (the silver surfer part and intro in Darkside and the prechorus in Omega). Omega is a heavy epic while Arc is an acoustic ballady song, I don't see many similarities. It is ironic that Omega isn't the final track now that I think of it.

Ghost of Cain is better as a closer anyways :}

The final TOS song makes the list. "Navigate the Seas of the Sun" is the longest song on the album and the "epic" from it, but it's also one of Bruce's most mellow compositions. A nice song, I don't know if it deserves to be this high but very cool nonetheless.

Navigate the Seas of the Sun is so overrated. The least votes? Come on. That song has a nice feel and atmosphere but when you really look at what's happening (compared to other songs), it isn't much. Especially the end (last two minutes is just chorus going on and on) is one big, sweet snoozefest. This forum is taken over by a bunch of softies.

Right, that's it. 'Navigate the Seas of the Sun' to win.

"Not much happening" describes a lot of songs that are extremely popular, I find a large amount of the Beatles works can be covered by that and yet they are still worshipped. Simplicity isn't always a bad thing if the song can still grab peoples attention, and we know this well because the Fugitive is the most complex song in the known universe and only one person likes that!

"Chemical Wedding" is my favorite Bruce solo song. It's weird, isn't it? The shortest track on TCW. You'd think it's nothing special, right? But goddammit, Bruce gives one of the best performances ever here. The chorus is so godly. So impactful. Eugh. I fucking love it.

Is anyone surprised that "Book of Thel" is the highest song on The Chemical Wedding? I think the bigger surprise is that it didn't reach #1 on this list. It's definitely deserving. Bruce took a bunch of Blake stuff and threw them in a melting pot to create this masterpiece of a song. Dark, heavy, epic. A metal classic. Far different from the poem, though....

Personally, the song is fine except for one particular part of the pre-chorus that I dislike ("The book of Thel is Op-hen-ing!"), which is sadly all that ever comes to mind when I think of the song. I hate the fact that it is that way, but that one part that I really dislike completely overshadows the rest of it for me and I struggle to get past it >.<

"Book of Thel" is my favorite Bruce song. It's just... amazing. It actually sounds like it could seamlessly fit on a Maiden album, yet it feels so different from anything Maiden. It's unique, and the use of Shakespeare is magnificent. I wish I could vote 11.

"Darkside of Aquarius"... what can you say that hasn't been said already? Considered by so many to be Bruce's absolute masterpiece. I love it, but I definitely think there should've been a third repeat of that excellent chorus. "Book of Thel" kinda perfected what Bruce was going for with this song, but both are great. Probably in my Top 10. Doesn't deserve to be #1 though, so it's nice seeing something different for a change. Two songs remain - which one will win it and which one will be the runner-up?

"Omega" is the only song to not receive any votes below 9/10. Wow. I gave it a 9. Should've given it a 1 just to be contrarian. Look, the opening is beautiful, and I'm still with it when it gets heavier. But when the chorus kicks in it kind of loses me, and the instrumental doesn't work that well. I still like "Omega", but not nearly this much. *Sigh* Take a look at your list, MaidenFans! Take a look at your Number 2!

Eh, it'll probably grow on me some more and I'll come back to eat my words.

Well guys, out of 96 different songs, "Tears of the Dragon" is far-and-away the winner. It had nothing but 10s at first - yep, this is that song I was telling you about. It's Bruce's most important creation. It gave him a new identity after the split from Maiden and helped him purge some of the demons he'd built up in his life at that time. Sure, he may have done better stuff, but outside of "Book of Thel", I can't think of a more deserving end to this list than with the song that showcased the ability for him to survive in the music industry without being backed by Maiden. In a strange twist of fate, Balls to Picasso, arguably his worst solo album, would leave the list last, all because its closer is such an incredible tune. Well deserved.

Fuck I just listened to it after so long I forgot how much I love this song! Shame there can't be 2 songs at first place because both Omega and Tears are so perfect
