Comics and beer for fans in the Brooklyn area interested in those things:

Why New York City and only New York City? I have a few questions too. :D

There was this
COMIC CON STUTTGART 2023 9 and 10 December 2023
and that
COMIC CON Dortmund 2023 02 December and 03 December 2023

and I'm sure there was/will be more; I don't know much about comics.

The new Classic Rock interview:
When I got back with Roy Z, we wrote [the album’s first single] Afterglow Of Ragnarok, I thought: I like the title, I like the chorus, it’s all good, but it’s got fuck all to do with the comic. But then I thought, it doesn’t matter, and the album is not a concept album, because that limits you, and you end up shoehorning in things to fit the concept.

At the end, you realise the Mandrake Project has conquered death, which raises all sorts of philosophical questions. At the heart of the comic is the question: is the universe scientific, or poetic?

I chuck everything in Steve’s direction. That’s how it works. Then he turns around and says: “Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no, no…” These days we tend to write more in the studio, though, so I come up with stuff specifically for Maiden. Me and Adrian write a lot together. Steve might take a couple of ideas from Janick and then he’ll disappear into his little hole in the ground for two to three weeks. Then he’ll suddenly emerge and go: I think I’ve got one. That was how we did Senjutsu, which is a cracking Maiden album.

Yeah, they were. But I also great take pride in being able to voice Steve’s riffs. There’s not many people that can do it. I could never figure out why he wrote such bloody difficult words, though. Then we were chatting one day and it came out – the words follow the bass and drums. I tried to explain to him early on:“Look, Steve, I’m going to lose my front teeth trying to sing this.” But Steve has compromised over the years. I never thought I’d be able to sing Alexander The Great when I first heard it, but that worked out fine.

I wouldn’t have changed that [leaving Maiden in 1993], but I would have done it better. I would have had more of a plan. I realised Iron Maiden were doing its thing and there was nothing anybody could do to change its trajectory. At the time, I was sitting there making what ended up being Balls To Picasso, and I realised that I didn’t have much clue what to do outside of Iron Maiden.

About Tattooed Millionaire: It was a bunch of rock’n’roll clichés done quite well. People liked it – which I respect – but if I wanted to do something that was going to be the start of a solo career I wouldn’t have done Tattooed Millionaire.

Skunkworks was a cracking album, but they weren’t really a focused rock band. I heard the demos they were coming up with, and said: “It’s not really my thing, is it. But that band got me out of my comfort zone, and I learned a lot about singing, too.

Accident Of Birth was a lot of fun to make and it turned everything around for me. The Chemical Wedding was the big one, artistically. That’s when I realised if Iam going to do anything, I need to go deep – deep into the emotion and deep into the heart of it.

I want to come back, Steve, because, in the words of my mates, ‘the world needs Iron Maiden’, and secondly I think we can make amazing music. What I said was: “We will sweep away the past by doing an amazing future.” I also told them that we are not to just do ‘greatest hits’ albums, we are going to do a new album and it will be fucking great. And it was. Brave New World really delivered. So suddenly we’re off to the races again.

Really, I’ve been doing the same thing all along – telling stories. If I’m singing, Iam telling a story. If Iam doing a comic, it’s storytelling. I finally realised this is what I do. I love the musical part of it, but I’ve got to have a story before I’m there.

This is also worth noting -> Dickinson’s forthcoming tour will also see him play highlights from his solo records to audiences as far afield as South America (“These people have been waiting years to see this stuff live”). Then there’s a new Iron Maiden album to be made, after his trip to Australia to, hopefully, improve his digeridoo playing.!!!!!! :)

The promo photos (with The Future Past costume, maybe part of the booklet or of the new video?) are giving me BTP vibe:
Trip to Australia? When is that? After TFP tour?

Unless they record before that leg, and release after. Senjutsu was recorded before the second leg of LOTB.
For sure, but LOTB was a greatest hits tour. I just don't see it happening for this setlist if they have a new album ready to go. IMO it's more likely they go the Give Me Ed route and do a short greatest hits run and release the album after.

I think they might do 3rd leg of TFP (short Euro summer run of dates) and replace some songs, plus play one new song in 2025.

Also, recording in Australia is a possibility, as Kevin lives there.

Thanks for sharing the interview. I got as far reading until they asked me to create an account…

There's nothing directly from Bruce in the interview that suggests that a new Maiden album is on the cards after TFP tour, looks maybe a passing comment by Bruce, not included in the interview, has maybe been editorialised by the interviewer.

Or maybe even complete speculation.

@matic22 : the australia trip is this "Dickinson hopes to pick up some tips when he visits Australia soon. His psychologist friend Kevin has also brokered a deal for them to attend a ceremony, access to which is usually denied to non-aboriginal people."

Ahhh, get it. I think that's before the beginning of the tour (straight after the end of the solo tour), which makes any Euro dates unlikely.

So Maiden either plan to record in early 2025 or it's just pure speculation.

Seems like pure speculation, but also seems like they wouldn't be allowed by Bruce/Maiden management to publish that if it were true (maybe keep an eye on it to see if it gets edited out).

If they intend on making another album I'm sure it's on the calendar now, given how far in advance they plan.

My money is on: recording in early 2025 and touring European festivals with TFP (although this time Celts/Time Machine, DFP, Prisoner and Madness make way for a new single and three other songs).

Or maybe they go balls to the wall and play SSOASS in full during summer 2025 plus a new song and 6 classics.

It says soon. It's not a direct quote from Bruce, but they have plans in advance as we know (until 2026 for sure). The most realistic scenario is an early 2025 recording, a short 3rd leg of TFP tour in the summer (mainly because they have to play in Greece!) and a September album release - with a tour in 2026 (and in 2027). Like was their original plan for SJ. I think the band have hunger for new music (they wanted to record a 2nd new album after SJ), and for more different tours and stage sets I guess. At first I thought TFP wouldn't be 3 years, but with the SIT songs it's like a Hits tour. They can make the 3rd leg really worth it if they change 3/4 songs, especially by playing some of the other SJ songs (or some classic favorites like Clairvoyant, for example). That would be enough. More rare songs will be saved for the next tour.

New album and the same tour formula would be the perfect celebration for 2025. Thus they can play more rare songs too. I really hope it will be like 2005/2006 again -> new Bruce album/new Maiden album.

True, but I think they will record in France again.

This.

There was an interview with Bruce in Aftonbladet, a Swedish newspaper. He talked some about Nickos stroke and some about the songs on the Mandrake Project. He also said that he is busy and got plans figured out to 2026.

Holiday season is over, and I'm feeling really grumpy. So, might as well shit all over everything.
Why the fuck is it so hard for any kind of semi-professional public person to have somebody that will deal with his online persona?!
Not a single one of these interviews were shared on his social media, of which there is exactly one - Instagram. Which I guess I'll have to make because even when you go to his official webpage, you can not find about some news like his comic book signing. There is obviously somebody behind it, and it doesn't seems like it's about paycheck, so how hard it is to, when you find out about something (or write a news) click a fucking button that'll send to it to several different places?!?!

And I'm not buying anything.
Everything is too expensive.
Piss off.

Not to add to the negativity but Afterglow came on shuffle the other day and I actually think it sounds worse than anything off Senjutsu, production-wise.
I don't get this comment, it is the same singer but two different bands.
You put Afterglow after, before or in the middle of Tyranny of Souls, not Senjutsu. (I tried few weeks ago and there honestly isn't much difference)
It's Bruce and Roy show, of course those two will be best sounding in the song.
