British Lion 2013 Tour

Not at all. Blaze and especially Janick contributed a lot. And there's even a song without a Harris credit.

Still overwhelmingly Harris though. If you look at the previous album, Fear of The Dark, had 5 songs that were penned and written without his involvement. But yes, have to give credit to Gers for coming through big time on X-Factor. Besides the songwriting contributions I also meant the direction he took the band in.

That direction (long songs with particular intros, atmosphere and build-ups) was already taken three years earlier on songs like Fear of the Dark and Afraid to Shoot Strangers, but indeed used on more songs on TXF.

Still less overwhelmingly Harris compared with BNW and the last two albums, although Harris wrote more on his own on TXF. But I happen to like those songs more than the ones he did by himself on later albums, so I am not complaining.

Hell yes. Janick contributed more on TXF than Adrian on TFF. Never ever got one guitarist so much room when it comes to songwriting, as on TXF. "Ego-like" album, my ass.

Naturally, Dave did not have a credit on the album, and there was no third guitarist around.

EDIT: Additionally, Gers also co-wrote a b-side with Blaze (again without Harris), and Dave co-wrote the other b-side with Harris.

I think The X factor was a very particular album : Maiden had so much to prove at the time, everybody was a bit worried, and I think they just tried hard to make the best possible album. The writing and recording were long enough compared to their standards, I think Haris and the guys just tried to make a really strong record (and successfully did in my opinion). I don't see any ego-thing in this, just Harris being even more involved because he was anxious to prove they could do well without Dickinson. And remember he was going through bad moments on a personnal level, which seems to have him even more focused on Maiden. ANd, yes, with this album, Gers proved he is a very consistant songwriter.

Just read the price for the Paris concert : 23,50 euros. Incredible :bigsurprise: ! Hope it won't urge too many people to go, as I'm terribly worried not to get a ticket, and relying on black market is risky and expensive.

They've been running pre-sales on the Official site for the British Lion tour but I don't know if for all the shows on the tour. Perhaps Forostar can investigate this. I accidentally deleted my presale code.

But yeah you'll probably want to get tickets fairly quickly just to be on the safe side :)

23.50 euros price for Paris. For London (including service charges etc and postage) £25.75.

I know it's Steve Harris and all that, but the band isn't all that good, and for that price I'm going to pass.

Hmm, that's a lot of money for a band that only has a bass player. :pAnd bass players are sometimes treated differently from the rest of the band. Look at this:

"LOUISVILLE, KY – The day after The Academy Is concert, Victoria Jorgensen, 22, was terrified to realize that she had accidentally slept with the band’s bass player – mistaking him for someone important in the band.
“I can’t believe how stupid I was,” said Jorgensen. “I mean, I went up to the guy and was like ‘are you in the band’ and he was all like, ‘yeah, I’m in the band’ so I did him. Then this morning I was telling my friends and I realized he was just the bass player. This happens to me all the time.”
Jorgensen plans to do more research before sleeping with another band member.
“This won’t happen again,” said Jorgensen. “If I’m going to sleep with someone, they’d better be important. I mean, I could find someone here in town as important as a bass player.”
Adam Siska, The Academy Is bass player, was unavailable for comment."

£25? Heck, that is a lot for a 'new' band at a smallish venue. I was going to buy the Manchester tickets when they're released this Friday, but it's a risk if I can't persuade anyone else to pay for the second ticket

Hahahahh best post in ages, brilliant!! :D

Got my ticket to see THE bass player in Paris. A 1 200 km trip, but definetly worths the effort (and the expanse). I'm so happy to see him in very mall venue.

You know Brittany pretty well I assume :). I'm travelling by train anyway : leaving Brest at 11:38 on sunday, and back home the morning after at 6:00 to go to work ! Everything went perfectly smooth this time, and the gods definitely want me to see Harris live.

Yeah on the holy (& toll free :D) roads of Brittany I learnt to drive & had my driving license (St. Nazaire)..
Well, another option it would be to take Monday off, so you won't be too exhausted at work..

Unfortunatly, I have to give my holiday dates well in advance, with no derogation and change possible. So the concert being a sunday is real luck, because it was announced very late.
