Re: Best/Worst Iron Maiden albums by Track Position (continuing next best Track #2)

Oops. Clicked too fast there. I voted Colours (an excellent choice)
I should have voted Revelations (a better one).

I'm guessing Sanctuary?

The best???

I accidentally picked FHTE (which is my worst)

I choose Revelations instead!

Ghost of the Navigator

What on earth is it that makes people feel Revelations is their favourite? It's a good song but it lacks variation and is quite simple and repetitive, compared to many other songs.

Ta da da
Ta da da
Ta da daaa da etc.

That motive is even in the instrumental part, all the way.

Complex is admirable, but it doesn't necessarily equal good. Consider how the most powerful statements are often simple: "Kill him" "I love you"
I think the beauty of Revelations is that it's simplicity makes it accessible, but a great lyric, powerful melody and an interesting arrangement gives it a sense of power and depth.

Well, I like Revelations because during my first Maiden show that was the first song during which I was able to breathe a bit. ;)  Well, no, but really, even if it is repetive (and I surely wouldn't rate it anywhere near Maiden's most repetitive songs), pretty much every second of it is musical perfection.  The lyrics, the great riffs, the beautiful melodies, and the way the whole thing blends into one amazing song make it one of Maiden's best songs in my opinion.  Among my top 10, it is probably the shortest song too.

There were some other great ones, too. Children of the Damned has always been a great song to me, El Dorado has just grown and grown on me ever since I heard it, Wasted Years is one of the best 5-minute rockers the band has put out, and after seeing These Colours Don't Run live I'm convinced it's one of the best songs on AMOLAD.  Ghost of the Navigator has nice melodies, but the song as a whole has never appealed to me and BNW has several better songs.

I get it. :)

That's the point. This song is not near such songs now. It's put next to a lot of strong songs with more variation and good melodies.

I strongly beg to differ, but this is personal as well. I think that Ghost has many strong elements.

I think Revelations is just killer - incredible. I love the track. Sure, it's simpler, but it's strong. Bruce is gorgeous in it. It's possibly his best vocal performance ever in Maiden.

I went Children of the Damned, but there were about 5 songs here I was debating between.

I can see why most people love it, but it has just never appealed to me to be honest.  It might be because it comes before Brave New World on both BNW and RIR albums, and I subconsciously anticipate that.

Honestly, with the quality of Songs at #2, I wouldn't mine of any one of about 5 or 6 songs came in as 2nd best.

Re: Best/Worst Iron Maiden albums by Track Position (continuing next BEST Track #3)

Revelations takes spot #2.

Track #3 songs are up!

Flight of Icarus for me pls.

Re: Best/Worst Iron Maiden albums by Track Position (continuing next BEST Track #3)

Brighter Than A Thousand Suns, obviously. Honorable mention goes to Sea of Madness and the three oldest ones on the list.
