Re: Best and Worst Iron Maiden album by Track Position (Finished!)

Most of those I agree with, that is a pretty horrible album.

I can only agree if you are speaking in terms of Iron Maiden.
Because I would play that album in my car and only skip a couple of tracks.
I don't know if that's a great commentary on Maiden, or a sad commentary on me.

I did my ranking on my iPod at work, 145 through 1.

WORST Album Results:
1 - Tailgunner (No Prayer for the Dying)
2 - The Angel and the Gambler (Virtual XI)
3 - Losfer Words (Big 'Orra) (Powerslave)
4 - Fear Is the Key (Fear of the Dark)
5 - Fates Warning (No Prayer for the Dying)
6 - The Assassin (No Prayer for the Dying)
7 - Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger (Virtual XI)
8 - Chains of Misery (Fear of the Dark)
9 -The Apparition (Fear of the Dark)
10 - Weekend Warrior (Fear of the Dark)

Great enjoyable album, although I need to be patient at the end of The Angel and the Gambler, I will laugh like a farmer with toothache during the Muppetdrum part in Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger and I need to dump a shit when hearing Bruce's annoying singing in the slow part of Chains of Misery. These are about the only hard-to-tolerate moments.

I like-love all other tracks, even The Apparition, which isn't so bad as often sketched (nice instrumental part and I like some details in the couplets, and the story I also find appealing), plus Weekend Warrior, where I always eagerly look forward to the instrumental part with a blinding Dave solo. Also the use of acoustic guitars I like in this song, plus in Fear is the Key as well.

Re: Best and Worst Iron Maiden album by Track Position (Finished!)

The Apparition I honestly do not like from start to finish. Aside from that, I dislike the chorus of Chains of Misery and the Assassin, but the rest is tolerable. I especially like The Angel and the Gambler. A little boring? Perhaps, but in the end, ultimately a really good song.

Re: Best and Worst Iron Maiden album by Track Position (Finished!)

The only really annoying and very bad parts in that whole lot is the chorus on the songs 'The Assassin' and 'Chains of Misery'.  Otherwise the stuff there is either good, great or tolerable.

So…when does the Second Best Album start?

Starts now :) Remaining Track #1 albums are up!

There are several good ones here. I'm having trouble picking between CSiT, Moonchild, WED & SotC...
I went with Where Eagles Dare...

They'll be saying their prayers when the moment comes, there'll be penance to pay when it's judgement day.

CSIT.  Wickerman is a close second or third (if Aces High is counted).

The Name of the Rose!

Re: Best/Worst Iron Maiden albums by Track Position (continuing next best Track #2)

Well would you look at that... a Blaze song opens the 2nd best album :) SotC wins for Track #1!

Track #2 songs are up. Vote for the best.

I pick CotD. Again. Best vocal performance by Bruce ever.

Re: Best/Worst Iron Maiden albums by Track Position (continuing next best Track #2)

I forgot how many strong songs there are at #2, but I'm going to go with Revelations.

Re: Best/Worst Iron Maiden albums by Track Position (continuing next best Track #2)

Holy mackerel, how many great songs. All #2 songs from the "classic" era (NOTB through SSOASS) are amazing, as is Ghost of the Navigator.

I love COTD, I love Revelations and I love 2 Minutes to Midnight. However, I'm in a Wasted Years mood today and that one gets my vote.

Re: Best/Worst Iron Maiden albums by Track Position (continuing next best Track #2)

This one's Revelations, this one!

That's a lot of great tracks. 3 of them are in my top 25, and another 3 are in my top 50 (plus the track voted as "worst").
