Hmm... I've been promoting three per group, but I don't think I can reasonably do that with two of the four songs left in Group VI topping the polls.
We'll see what develops in the next 24 hours, but if nothing changes, it's likely both are gone.

Eliminated: Hotel California, Go Your Own Way, Immigrant Song, Closer to the Heart, Dream On, More Than A Feeling, Detroit Rock City
Promoted The Spirit of Radio, Sultans of Swing

Am I the only one chuckling about Beat It hanging in there still? Against Ozzy, Priest and Floyd no less?
What would the redneck Maiden forums think?

The final group enters the game.

- everything except Beat It
- Wish You Were Back in Town
- Hey Money, My Stairway

Beat It is easily the best song in that group.

It's my second favorite of the group.

Crazy Train
Electric Eye
The Boys Are Back in Town
Hey Jude
Let It Be
My Generation
Baba O'Riley

I'm pleasantly surprised. Didn't know if this forum would be as receptive toward MJ so it's awesome to see some appreciation here. Beat It is a great song and that riff holds up to anything a rock band would've written at that time.

Also, I think in general I get more out of the overplayed pop songs than the rock/metal ones. For classic pop music I usually dig the singles more than the deeper cuts (some exceptions here and there, usually by Prince), but with rock and metal I go for the deep cuts and get tired of the hits pretty quickly.

It comes with the territory, doesn't it? Pop music strives for bigger audiences and commercial value and most often put out the best songs on the album as singles. Whereas rock/metal bands generally go to more accessible stuff as singles but their best songs are hidden on the albums.

There obviously are exceptions on both sides of the fence.

A-ha spring to mind. They released the bouncy fun stuff and left the misery-pop well hidden.

Maximum of three votes
No more groups, every song for itself.

Oh wow. I wondered why it wouldn't register my votes, then I realised it's been set to accept only three. Is that a new feature?
