Let's get real: Hendrix often played out of tune, messy and by modern standard, very basic solo work. On the other hand, he revolutionized guitar playing, was a true musician, one heck of a showman and wrote some damn tasty songs as well as embodies the word "guitar hero".

It all depends on how you look at it.

He played with a damn magical feeling, that's how I look at it. But as you said, others can look from other angles.
