Apart from two albums, I actually like every album in this poll.

The black album
Images and Words
Night of the Stormrider
No More Tears
UYI 2

The votes are all over the place for this round and everyone is secretly in love with Nirvana.
And to think their best album hasn't even joined the poll yet.

I'm trying to say it's the test of time that usually proves how good they really were.
In Holland we would say:"This is a truth as a cow" (meaning: yes that can't be denied). Still, albums can have different impacts on different tastes and then the time is irrelevant.
The total of opinions is when it all comes together (end of this game ;-)

Actually, now that you mention it, can live albums count in this? There are some bands whose live albums are my favorites. Iced Earth and Deep Purple, for example. And some live albums have plenty of original material not found in studio albums.

I made a deliberate decision to leave them out. Might make for a good future game, though. I'd play.

The fact that Images and Words has five votes already is absurd. It's by far my favorite album on the list.

I know many people who can't get into DT yet loves Images and Words. It's in a league of its own, if you ask me.

I'd say it's one of the harder ones to get into though. Awake and Metropolis are way more accessible. At least for me anyway.

Megadeth - Endgame
Dream Theater - A Dramatic Turn Of Events
Megadeth - Thirteen

Seconding all of these. And I'm finally going to start voting this round, if only to protect albums I like, such as Images and Words, which as far as I'm concerned is the best album without Eddie on the cover.

Edit: I would say that Awake probably is the most accessible to metal fans, but I think Images is the better album. There is not a second on that album that doesn't absolutely deserve to be there, while I wouldn't say that Awake is equally as flawless (while I usually like DT's use of samples, I think it is gratuitous on "6:00").

Awake is definitely most accessible. It's also tied with Six Degrees for my favorite. It's impossible for me to decide since every song on 6DOIT is awesome but Awake has an atmosphere/flow that can't be beat. Both are better than I&W though imo. But yea, all three of those could be contenders for my favorite non Maiden album.

*feeling victimised*
:P

Re: Crimson Idol - Individually I do think some of the songs aren't THAT amazing, but the album as an entire piece I find magnificent, with the story and reprisal's helping to pull it all together. My favourite album and favourite track both. For WASP in general, there's quite a lot of variation. Other than Headless Children the majority of the Chris Holmes albums are the more 'immature' themeatically (is that a word? :D)

I gave it a spin especially for this survivor and I think they take way too much time to make their points.
There are good moments in their songs but songs as a whole (let alone a whole album!) tend to bore me.
I guess I would have liked all these songs more if they were shorter.

What do you mean by making their points ? The songs certainly are not repetitive and they feature a lot great qualities all along. Of course there are moments the songs hits its nirvana but I think the quality of build-ups are what makes them special.

Highlights. Good moments.

I haven't heard them all along. At least I don't think they sound original or even special.

Can you describe this quality of build-ups, perhaps I might listen to it in a different way next time.
