I can think of three possibilities why this happened. One of them is protecting Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.

No, not that one. Because Ariana voted against Powerslave when Painkiller was in the game (previous round).
It's not a matter of life and death, but that was exactly the reason why I was surprised.
