Kai Hansen has indeed become less original in the last 10 years, and had not much to do with the Priest influences in Iron Savior. But we're talking 1985-86 here and Walls of Jericho really brought a fresh new style. I disagree strongly that it has been done before. Yes he mixed some stuff that had been done before, but it's not just the mix. The vibe, energy and use of harmony in the guitars at such speed made big impact.
Listen to this:
Well funny you bring up Victim 0f Fate, because that's the only song on WoJ that I like.

You can dislike the voice, the production, the lyrics, hell, even the music if you're not into such energetic and raw stuff. But I don't think you can take away the credit for how this changed the metal scene.
I guess so.

The debut album the best record? Alright, every one his own preference.
Definitely. It's the only one I found consistent from beginning to end. There as a later one that I liked too but I can't remember which one it was. If I was to make a GR top ten, at least 5 songs would be from the debut.[/quote]

I'll have a hard time voting for any of the first four Metallica albums. Great stuff.

I just realized I forgot to nominate Flotsam and Jetsam's debut Doomsday for the Deceiver. It probably wouldn't get much support anyway.

I have a hard time voting against anything Metallica because I have something of a crush on Mr. Hetfield despite being a heterosexual male. And also there's some quality that I really like about Metallica's music enough to give them the benefit of the doubt sometimes (that's the real reason, though James IS sexy). And so I didn't vote against ReLoad though it deserves to go and I know it will.

As for the best album up there, gotta be Scenes From A Memory, though Moving Pictures is hard to beat. Seriously, if anyone thinks Dream Theater is all prog and no heart, give that album a listen. It's tough to digest in only one listen but there's some seriously heartfelt moments. If you want to skip to just an emotional song, try The Spirit Carries On, though the album is meant to be heard as a whole. Some passages in Home... ("Victoria watches and thoughtfully smiles, she's taken me to my home/Help - He's my brother, but I love her/I can't keep away from her touch/Deception, dishonor/It's calling me back to my home").

My favorite is either Scenes or the two Foo Fighters albums. While Scenes is the best album as a whole, the Foo albums have better songs. So it's almost impossible to decide. None of my favorite DT songs are on Scenes.

I took a machine gun to the 97-99 stuff because, like Foro, I was trying to protect Unleash the Beast.
Not a lot of people seem to know this one too well, but just a fabulous classic-style metal album.
Anyone who is a fan of Judas Priest — and we seem to have a lot of those — should love this one.
Alas mckindog. In vain we tried.

Just...take it easy Champ. Why don't you stop talking for a while. Maybe sit the next couple plays out, you know what I mean?

I'm frankly surprised Master of Puppets got as many votes as it did.

It was Land of the Free I think that you liked, the album that Rebellion is on.

And Foro, the sound quality of that Victim of Fate is shocking, I can't listen to it, it sounds so muddy and garbled.
