Well funny you bring up Victim 0f Fate, because that's the only song on WoJ that I like.Kai Hansen has indeed become less original in the last 10 years, and had not much to do with the Priest influences in Iron Savior. But we're talking 1985-86 here and Walls of Jericho really brought a fresh new style. I disagree strongly that it has been done before. Yes he mixed some stuff that had been done before, but it's not just the mix. The vibe, energy and use of harmony in the guitars at such speed made big impact.
Listen to this:
I guess so.You can dislike the voice, the production, the lyrics, hell, even the music if you're not into such energetic and raw stuff. But I don't think you can take away the credit for how this changed the metal scene.
Definitely. It's the only one I found consistent from beginning to end. There as a later one that I liked too but I can't remember which one it was. If I was to make a GR top ten, at least 5 songs would be from the debut.[/quote]The debut album the best record? Alright, every one his own preference.
Doing that now.As for the best album up there, gotta be Scenes From A Memory, though Moving Pictures is hard to beat. Seriously, if anyone thinks Dream Theater is all prog and no heart, give that album a listen.
Alas mckindog. In vain we tried.I took a machine gun to the 97-99 stuff because, like Foro, I was trying to protect Unleash the Beast.
Not a lot of people seem to know this one too well, but just a fabulous classic-style metal album.
Anyone who is a fan of Judas Priest — and we seem to have a lot of those — should love this one.
Just...take it easy Champ. Why don't you stop talking for a while. Maybe sit the next couple plays out, you know what I mean?I have a hard time voting against anything Metallica because I have something of a crush on Mr. Hetfield despite being a heterosexual male. And also there's some quality that I really like about Metallica's music enough to give them the benefit of the doubt sometimes (that's the real reason, though James IS sexy).
