I actually really liked Chinese Democracy when it dropped and often defended it against all the critique it took. Since then I have not been so keen on the new band constellation and the recent live stuff has been pretty cringe worthy..Huge nostalgia fan of the classic 1987 - 1993/4 era though 
Cool to see him in a good mood in that interview, very relaxed atmosphere. Interviews on shows like Jimmy Kimmel and other late nights shows are unfortunately not really interesting. It is really nothing more than "hello how are you, have you been alright, what are you up to" and then cracking a few jokes (I guess partly that is why Axl said yes to do THIS kind of interview and knowing beforehand what kind of questions he would be asked) But I guess since he were gone for 20 years (!) it is more the appearance that matters rather than the interview itself, which was, highly irrelevant and uninteresting to say the least
