Axl Rose Interview on Jimmy Kimmel!

Yeah, this interview was way better than the TMS one. There was an audience receiving him, Jimmy Kimmel was wide awake (as opposed to Trunk and the gang), and Axl just seemed more comfortable and animated. He even trended worldwide on Twitter, and most people were really positive. What a nice change of pace. :)

I don't think we'll be getting the Chinese leftovers until he's dead, tbh. It's been sounding like he wants to start from scratch once again. During the Chinese sessions, he wrote and recorded mostly in Vegas. Hopefully, the Vegas shows are just something to do between studio sessions.

Oh, man! You're totally gonna miss out. DJ's been saying (well, I guess take what he has to say with a grain of salt) that they're planning on lots of surprises for the Vegas shows and "new songs" (though I'm assuming he means Use Your Illusion songs that lineup has yet to play). Well, they're doing 12 dates in Vegas: Oct. 31, Nov. 2-3, Nov. 7, Nov. 9-10, Nov. 14, Nov. 17-18, Nov. 21, and Nov. 23-24.

Well that's fine if he wants to start over again, but he'd better get going on a new album. It's been 5 years, and he isn't getting any younger.

Vegas shows sounds like they're gonna be fun, and maybe they will do new songs, since they were playing CD songs years before that came out.

He should just release everything in the vault in a box set (the Chinese leftovers, the "Better" video*, the O2 London shows that were just canceled this morning :( , the HD 2010 shows, Axl's supposed autobiography). I'd easily drop $100 for that, especially since the Chinese leftovers will undoubtedly be way more off-the-wall than what this lineup will come up with (which I'm asserting because DJ is more of a simple blues-based guitarist than Buckethead).

Maybe he could do a special. Buy one box set and get his "brand new album" for free.

Last year and earlier this year, there were tons of livestreams for the shows (though you had to pay $5 for the lot of them). Maybe they'll livestream a few of these, too.

* We got this via a leak, but I'd like to see it officially released.

He should, but I can't really see him doing that. I'd love to hear more stuff with Buckethead though

Just watched the link. One of the better Axl interviews I've ever seen. Clearly on his best behavior, he actually came across as a humble, self-effacing, funny, somewhat-normal, good dude.

I posted this elsewhere, but if you get a chance to see the new incarnation of the band, you definitely should. They sound terrific, the show has lots of bonus surprises, and you definitely get your money's worth. And, if they actually show up on time, as they supposedly will do in Vegas, even better.

I'll have to catch them next time they're in Denver. They seem to make up for coming on late by playing really long shows.

Yeah, they've been doing 3-hour shows for the past two years, and they haven't really been coming on that late. At the show I went to, they came on 45 minutes after the opening act. And seeing as I was on the floor at the Wiltern, it was the best show I'd ever been to. But their setlist has been rather fixed lately, so hopefully they shuffle it up a bit during the Vegas shows.

It's so funny to go on Twitter and see people saying they don't wanna sit through an arrogant Axl interview, and then I send them the link to the interview, and they're like, "Oh, he's so normal now." It's like they forgot what he was like when he's in a good mood.

I'd be surprised if they didn't change things up for the Vegas shows. It seems like they are are a very special run of concerts.

Well, for anyone interested, there was only one song added to the setlist, and it's really predictable which song it was.

Chinese Democracy
Welcome to the Jungle
It's So Easy
Mr. Brownstone
Estranged
Better
Richard Fortus Solo
Live and Let Die
This I Love
Rocket Queen

Axl must've been so excited about this setlist that he wants to make sure EVERYONE sees it. :p

People still play solos on gigs?

Yeah, GN'R's always had solos in their gigs, probably because Axl needs an oxygen break. :D

I wasn't expecting much since Axl totally ruined Jungle at the recent Bridge School Benefit (he got confused and randomly started singing You're Crazy lol), but damn! He sounded great on Jungle last night!

Edit: Just realized Sorry isn't on the setlist. Oh. Good riddance. It's a momentum killer and one of my least favorites from Chinese. Bring back IRS, please.

Yeah, I know they did it in the past and so did many other bands, but GN'R must be the only ones who do it now. o_O Axl will never change, will he?

He did apparently go onstage on time! Aside from that, no, he probably won't. But that's what's so cool about him. He's incredibly stubborn. He'll always be himself no matter what, and we just have to deal.

The solos are really cool, though. I do miss Richard's James Bond Theme and Ron's Pink Panther, but these ones are great, too. Well, I can't say Ron's is great, but Richard's is quality.

I haven't paid any attention to anything GN'R have done for the past...15 years maybe. But I used to enjoy the solos before, especially Matt Sorum's.

Bucket's not in the band anymore. He's excellent, though, perhaps the best guitarist the band's ever had. Have a listen, 4:24:

But the current lineup is actually pretty great live, and it actually appears pretty stable (though I wouldn't be shocked if Ron left since he bitched a lot during the European tour some months back). I'd say check out Chinese Democracy and a couple live videos before completely giving up on them. I mean, this solo was cool as hell:
