As far as albums with repetitive choruses, why does Seventh Son get a break?

Musically, you surely can't consider each line as an individual chorus. The vocal melody is slightly different in lines one and two. And if the chorus was to end after two lines, it would leave a gap before the next verse that just wouldn't work, no matter what you tried to put in there. It has to be considered a unit of four lines, in my book, even if the lyrics are the same.

Seventh Son has eight, where four would suffice
I think it hinders the flow of a song (which is otherwise fantastic), and adds nothing since the melody of the other four is the same

I know, you and Doc are right. I just happen to think The Wickerman has got one of the most boring chorus lines ever. So no matter what the actual chorus is I hear it like a disturbing line being repeated over and over. The american radio version was much better.

I disagree on Seventh Son. The chorus is rather short as it is, compared to the verses. I think a chorus that is too short compared to the verse doesn't make a song flow well.

that's true, but those ooohs before and after chorus, and then the long repetitive chorus that's only the name of the song...
I'd almost prefer no chorus
