Arjen Anthony Lucassen (Ayreon, Star One etc.)

Wish he did, like in 2002 and in Stream of passion. But I understand he’s older and have had some physical problems

Yesterday I finally got my package with signed Live beneath the waves and Long-lost songs that I pre-ordered February 27th! Cause of some BS new customs crap, all the small Norwegian packages that was sent from Mascot, were refused to go out to the customers. So they were returned, sent out again, going througt the customs and finally arrived about three months after release.

Anyway, I’m curious how both sound. This is Soeterbeck’s first collaboration with Arjen since the Star one tour? And I can’t wait to hear and see the amazing Y album live!

Re-listened to The Source lately.

Everybody was speaking about "The Day That The World Breaks Down" back then, and rightly so, but can we just stop for a moment and appreciate what an incredible track "The Human Compulsion" is?
I adore that whole album, especially the first half. Just incredible prog rock/metal with arguably the best voices in the genre. LaBrie even stays in the range he sounds best in.

You'd hardly find a lower-quality track in the whole album.

My highlights are actually in the second half: "Deathcry of a Race" which would by my choice were I asked to name the best track out of the album — love the melodies, the rousing chorus (Sammet is truly incredible), the operatic interlude between Simone Simons and Floor Jansen and Zaher Zorgati's part; "Planet Y Is Alive!" which has a more traditional power/prog sound carried by Hansi's powerful voice ("he sounds like he's roaring from the top of a mountain"); and the final triad/mini-suite "Journey to Forever" (I sincerely applauded the funk break) – "The Human Compulsion" (another incredible song, love the chiastic structure — starts with a sweet and dreamy female voice, ends with the desperate cry of another one — buildup and the intensity, and that despite being titled "The Human Compulsion" it actually sounds very mechanical with the looped drums in the first part and the sound effects, my favourite track with "Deathcry") – "March of the Machines".

Hard to tell who did what better than what else, but Floor's "WE WON'T JUST VANISH IN THE SEA!" at the end of "The Human Compulsion" (again) lives in my mind rent free. Also Sammet was very good, especially on "Deathcry of a Race" where he carries the chorus.
