Anybody up for a forum collaboration?

Nothing done yet, I was out of everything (seek leave) for last two weeks or so.
I did learn the song, so I hope I'll record these parts during the weekend.

BTW also took care of stereo phase issue, don't know exactly what it was, but resetting TC to factory settings did the trick.

I was just about to post a mix... But Pro Tools glitched and have to redo some stuff. :D

Thank heavens that it auto backups every now and then.

I would request you move my Davey solo like 5 hundredths further, it's synced a bit ahead of the drums atm.

Maybe, but I'm a sloppy drummer, and a notable number of my snare hits in the solo section are a hair late. Are you ahead of my snare, or my hi-hat? My hi-hat is right on the beat.

Yeah...it sounds like the guitars and the bass are off the beat throughout, especially in the intro.

Can you also bring up the lead vocal throughout, but especially during the bridge at the end? Those layered vocals (in the choruses) and harmonies (during the bridge) are a little too loud, but they'll probably be perfect if you bring up the main vocal a little bit.

The timing isn't always perfect and that goes for everybody, from playing to my edit.

I could improve by making sure all reamped is 100% synced to the DI (they are close to 100 already. There is latency when reamping). But it's a matter of milliseconds not more than that. I bounced the backings from the start of my Pro Tools project to have perfect sync.

The intro rhytm sounds dodgy because it is dodgy from the beginning. It is perfectly synced to how it was played. The intro melody Zare played is off, because there's no starting reference so I put it where it should be- ish. I'm sure it will be fine when Zare posts his parts.

And SMX drums are perfectly ok themselves (listen right now, synced and playing along to the Iron Maiden remaster). The original isn't 100 tempo locked, the tempo is a bit floating in it too. Which means you don't have an absolute grid to edit everything to either. I think the bass is in sync, but the only way to sync the bass was by ear.

Fixing Saap's lead: Resynching the short solo clip to the long track Saap sent me (which is synched to the start of my PT project). Also bringing up lead vox.

Actually, sending the rhytm guitars to me with an amped signal, synced to the backing track would ensure 100% sync to the timeline, even after I then reamped the DI. Because then I'd get a better reference point where to move the Kemper tracks (as I said, there is latency involved when reamping through the Kemper in the ATG project, as the buffersize has to be set to max), instead of using the DI as the reference.

That's how I just now resynched Saaps solo (the short solo clip with effects, to the DI track, which also had an amped solo in it). As far as I can tell though, they are pretty much entirely in sync.

I enjoy reading your updates, Yax, gives me a really neat idea how production actually works.

Cool. Nice to hear!

SMX bass got more treble, I moved some guitars a few ms, put the lead vox more up front, and quickly programmed some synths (intro and chorus), as I feel it is needed to fill out the soundscape. Will program more synths, for the verses, solo rhytm, bridge etc at some point.

Oh yeah, accidentally put it on mute. :D

I will post a version with it later (as I have to bounce in real time), along with some more synths. I'm thinking the chorus needs a synth melody too.
