I wouldn't let comparing with Tomi overshadow the view on the music (or the total result) too much. There are a lot of beautiful instrumental moments on this album, but also underneath Pasi who sings some really good melodies. Same for the growls (of other Tomi ). It's a different style compared to average grunts in modern metal. I think it comes more from the stomach, a little deeper. The vocals work well with this music. This is subtle music, I don't need loud dominant vocals all the time. If they are weaker than the first albums, then it was a choice of direction, and/or a result of production. The grunts are sparse already on Elegy and were soon to be abandoned for years. When the album came out I felt disappointed because of the style change, and the small quantity of grunts. But now I might like this album the same if the grunts were left out.
