It took me a year to fully appreciate Images and Words and it has taken me well over two years to understand Opeth's "genius". The only reason I've been so patient with both was because I knew there was something great there I wasn't getting... and when I did.... WOW. That also happened to me with certain Maiden songs. Rime of the Ancient Mariner. I liked it but was very blah about it. Yet lately... Man i'm playing it over and over it just fucking rocks...
I've always been a fan of Opeth from the start. They are a little bit repetative, but they've got an insane amount of talent and musicianship. This isn't the kind of band your average Joe will appreciate. You have to be one of them artsy people like me. [!--emo&

Dream Theater I also started off liking quite a bit, but they are a little boring for me now, because they keep repeating themselves. I can appreciate their talent, and their music, but it's not the type of thing I want to listen to around the clock. Maybe once in a few months or so.
