Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

I think there are some substantial issues regarding the provenance of this guitar. If the handwritten note from Mr. Murray could be authenticated in some way, I would believe it, but in the absence of that:

  • It is described as a 1962 strat. However, its serial number of L20508 would date the guitar to 1964.
  • The serial number stamping looks totally fake with the "L2" being larger than the rest of the numbers. If you compare this to the neck plates of other vintage strats, it looks totally wrong.
  • Home made looking Iron Maiden "Certificate of Authenticity" produced and signed by who?
  • Pictures included in the auction do not appear to include any actual images of this guitar.
  • The listing states "The above instrument was one two 1962 Black Fender Stratocasters that was owned and used by Dave Murray for Stage, Touring and Recording Purposes." There is no evidence this thing was ever played on stage, nor that he owned another black 1962 strat.
I would be hesitant to buy anything not fully substantiated from any dealer on Denmark Street.

@matic22 since you are the authority in this topic, I would like to ask you a question, what do you think that will happen regarding Adrian’s guitars as for 2026 RFYL? I have three possible scenarios (taking also into account that he could use the new 50th anniversary Jackson live, but also knowing that, as H likes the green Jackson so much, he could not retire it).

First scenario: Adrian decides to use the new 50th anniversary Jackson as his main standard-tuned guitar, the green Jackson becomes the drop D guitar, and decides to retire the white/blackguard drop-D prototypes, with that in mind, the black Lado and 50th anniversary Jackson are the standard-tuned guitars and green Jackson and DT300 are his drop-D guitars, regarding the songs, this is what could happen in case the setlist is the same as it was in 2025.

- Black Lado: Murders, Wrathchild, Phantom, Rime, Trooper, Hallowed, Aces
- 50th anniv Jackson: Killers, Powerslave, 2 Minutes, SSOASS, Wasted Years
- Green Jackson: Clairvoyant, RTTH, Fear
- DT300: TNOTB and Iron Maiden

Second scenario: Standard-tuned guitars are the same as they were in 2025, but the drop-d white/blackguard prototypes are retired and Silverburst Lado becomes the drop-D guitar, replacing the drop-D Jacksons. In case the setlist remains the same, something like the following will happen guitar-wise.

- Black Lado: Murders, Wrathchild, Phantom, Rime, Trooper, Hallowed, Aces
- Green Jackson: Killers, Powerslave, 2 Minutes, SSOASS, Wasted Years
- Silverburst Lado: Clairvoyant, RTTH, Fear
- DT300: TNOTB and Iron Maiden

Third scenario: Adrian decides not to change anything and to continue using the same guitars he used in 2025, but the Lado Earth Silverburst is going on tour with Adrian for Smith/Kotzen along with the new Jackson 50th Anniversary. Therefore, those two guitars will not appear with Maiden, but only with Smith/Kotzen.

I’d like to hear your thoughts about this.
