Accept

I have no interest in seeing the Wolf Hoffmann band again (did that back in 2018), but would love to see UDO or Dirkschneider live again. In fact, the UDO show in 1999 and the Dirkschneider show from 2016 are among the most enjoyable concerts I have ever been to!

Completely unnecessary if you ask me (why re-record one of the best metal albums of all time, which was perfect to begin with?), but probably a very enjoyable listen.

Here's the first single:

Wow, I didn't like this version. Joakim Broden's vocals for it either. The original album production is better (which is impressive against a modern one), the guitars and everything sound more alive. A perfect record.

Holy crap that sucks. I wish I could understand why bands want to go back and re-do their old songs like this. Are you really that desperate, Dirkschneider?

That is a very good question, especially considering that the money in the music business these days is on touring.

On that note, Udo puts Maiden’s alleged hard-working ethos to shame. He never stops!

I should listen to it before saying it sucks, but this sucks.

I don't know how his live performances have been in the past couple years, but I saw him in 2017. Ok, sorry for the breakup in this sentence but this song really does suck as I am discovering in real time. Anyways, saw him in 2017 doing all Accept songs and it was one of the best nights of my life. As an American heavy metal listener, I generally feel starved of European heavy metal live shows.

Heres the set:

I guess it's because he's going to play the whole album live on tour. Unnecessary though, but at least it's with guest vocalists, so like covers.

I think with solo musician/bands it's a little different. Even after all these years and albums.

I have said it before, but the Dirkschneider show I saw in London back in 2016, playing Accept classics, is one of the best concerts I have ever been to!

A dream setlist. We got a couple of songs more than you.

His Accept past is something that is generally still very much on Udo's mind. He is also thinking about writing a “tell-all memoir” at some point, but he thinks it will be better after his retirement so that it couldn't do him any harm.

Awesome! I was really hoping to hear I’m a Rebel live

Udo and Doro - Winter Dreams. Sounds quite well, the voices, but it's not fittingly perfect imo, almost.

I always wished this amazing classic ballad had a longer (classical-esque) solo.

Except for the production, there is ZERO difference between this track and Schlager / pop. I dont blame anyone for liking this (taste is taste), but in my book, this is the opposite of Metal. Pure plastic, grandma music. Take away the guitars, and you have the perfect song for Jan Smit, Helene Fisher or David Hasselhoff. And there should be more difference between Hasselhoff and Metal than just guitars...
I would not expect much else from Doro, but Udo...

Always loved Winterdreams personally. It was a favorite of mine for a long time, but now Losing More Than You’ve Ever Had is my favorite song from them. Accept were as popular as they were because, on top of bringing razor sharp speed and being extremely heavy for the time, no one could quite nail a melody like them. They were (and still are to some extent) amazing songwriters that had a penchant for writing hooks.

I still view Winterdreams as a metal song - it’s a metal ballad in my books. Great lyrics too.

They were especially good with melodic approach/choruses in the 80's. ''Losing More Than You've Ever Had'' is a perfect example.

No doubt, combining acoustic and guitar melody, typical and no faster parts.

No Prayer for the Dying, Afraid to Shoot Strangers, Amamos La Vida, When the Smoke is Going Down, Touch of Evil, Legion of the Lost... those are Metal ballads. This is Schlager with guitars.

Winter Dreams is a fabulous song. The perfect way to close an outstanding album.
