A 90's Flashback Tour Setlist?

Yes yes!! I also got to hear Paschendale live last summer[in so California] It was a monster!! Anyway, this is quite possible, since it hasn't been done, and almost everything else has!  I did not expect the last two tours to have the set lists they had, and for that matter did not expect the entire AMOLAD before those.
This band is liable to do anything, and even though this would not EVEN be a set list I would prefer, I'd be first in line for tickets!!  Bruce could do all those Blaze era songs some real justice, and I'm sure those NP and FOD songs would be great live..Bring it on!!

If such a tour is ever going to happen, the songs they play will obviously have to be played before - and preferrably after the tour for their respective albums.

If we look at which songs from these four albums that have been done with Bruce, with some help from Forostar (http://forum.maidenfans.com/index.php?topic=16270.0), we have the following:

Tailgunner, Holy Smoke, No Prayer, Public Enema, The Assassin, Hooks In You, Bring Your Daughter
Be Quick Or Be Dead, From Here To Eternity, Afraid To Shoot Strangers, Wasting Love, Fear Of The Dark
Sign of the Cross, Lord of the Flies, Man On The Edge
Futureal, The Clansman

The NPFTD and FOTD songs in bold were played after the album tour (I count the Real Live One Tour as a continuation of the FOTD tour here). The songs in bold plus the Blaze era songs Bruce have done sum up to 9 songs. I doubt we would see more - maybe one more Blaze era song or one extra FOTD song? Well, if we stick with the usual 16 songs setlist length, we could see the following:

1. Tailgunner
2. Lord of the Flies
3. Afraid To Shoot Strangers
4. The Trooper
5. The Clansman
6. Futureal
7. Brave New World (gotta have one 2000s song)
8. Sign Of The Cross
9. 2 Minutes to Midnight
10. The Evil That Men Do
11. Fear of the Dark
12. Bring Your Daughter ... To The Slaughter
13. Iron Maiden

Encore.
14. Man On The Edge
15. Hallowed Be Thy Name
16. The Number of the Beast

That would use all the 9 90's songs I see as most realistic, the two other ever-present songs (IM and FOTD), four other frequently played songs (NOTB, 2MTM, Trooper, TETMD) plus one 2000s era song (BNW).

This actually doesn't look half bad.

this setlist sounds great for me with little modification, I want tour from 90s
1. Tailgunner
2. Lord Of The Flies
3. Afraid To Shoot Strangers
4. The Trooper
5. The Clansman
6. Futureal
7. Brave New World (gotta have one 2000s song)
7. No Prayer For The Dying
8. Sign Of The Cross
9. 2 Minutes To Midnight
9. Be Quick Or Be Dead
10. The Evil That Men Do
11. Fear Of The Dark
12. Bring Your Daughter ... To The Slaughter...
13. Iron Maiden

Encore.
14. Man On The Edge
15. Hallowed Be Thy Name
16. The Number Of The Beast

That wasn't my "wishing" list, but one I thought realistic. I would rather replace Tailgunner with Be Quick, and BYDTTS with No Prayer (and add another song from each 90s album).

I must say, though, that I don't see this happening. The main difference between this and the other era-specific tours that the band have actually done, is that the 90s was an era of turmoil for the band. Adrian left, Bruce left, Blaze came and left again, album sales declined and during the Blaze years the band played smaller venues than earlier. In addition 'Arry went through personal troubles at the time. I don't think they are as keen on revisiting that era as the others.

A comparison with the other era-specific tours:

- Early Days tour: This one was probably quite surprising to many, but there was no doubt that the four albums in question were strong enough to carry a tour. A shitload of live staples are from the first four albums anyway.

- Somewhere Back In Time: Well, duh. This one was always going to happen. A revisit of the World Slavery Tour was always going to be a success, and with a few fan favourites from SIT and SSOASS thrown in they couldn't go wrong.

- Final Frontier, first leg: This one was maybe the most daring, relying so heavily on post 2000s material. But keep in mind all three (now four) albums have sold very well. There was obviously enough love for those albums out there, as the fan response also showed.

I think a 90s tour will be a much more risky choice. Sure, it will sell out stadiums in South America and it will probably go down well in parts of Europe as well - but I think the band need to feel that the fans really want this. Otherwise they are not going to revisit a troublesome era in the band's career.

Wingman that is gospel.  Perfectly said.  I just don't see that era [or those 2 eras] getting toured.

If ever happen:

1.Be Quick Or Be Dead
2.The Number Of The Beast
3.Lord Of The Flies
4.The Clansman
5.Tailgunner
6.Man On The Edge
7.Futureal
8.Bring Your Daughter... To The Slaughter
9.Afraid To Shoot Strangers
10.No Prayer For The Dying
11.Sign Of The Cross
12.Fear Of The Dark
13.Iron Maiden
Encore:
14.The Trooper
15.Run To The Hills
16.Hallowed Be Thy Name

"Back To The Clubs" Tour 2020:
  1. Tailgunner
  2. Futureal
  3. Lord of the Flies
  4. Holy Smoke
  5. Afraid To Shoot Strangers
  6. Run Silent Run Deep
  7. No Prayer For The Dying
  8. From Here To Eternity
  9. Sign of the Cross
  10. The Clansman
  11. The Trooper
  12. The Angel And The Gambler
  13. Fear of the Dark
  14. Iron Maiden
  15. The Number of the Beast
  16. Bring Your Daughter... To The Slaughter
  17. Sanctuary

I sort of toyed with the idea in a different thread, but it's an intriguing concept and more "stripped down" and intense approach, as above, might also work. I also excluded the BNW this time, making this set a very 90's-centric one.

1. Be Quick or be Dead
2. Killers/Can I Play With Madness/The Evil That Men Do
3. Man on the Edge
4. Hallowed be Thy Name
--
5. The Edge of Darkness
6. Tailgunner
7. Afraid to Shoot Strangers
--
8. The Number of the Beast
9. Sign of the Cross
10. Wasted Years/Lord of the Flies
11. Fear of the Dark
12. The Clansman
13. Iron Maiden
--
14. The Prisoner/Futureal
15. Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter
16. The Trooper

Pretty simple for me, just play every song from the 90s albums that’s good or better (plus the obvious one from Virtual XI that would inevitably get played, despite it not being a good song):

Tailgunner
Be Quick Or Be Dead
Public Enema Number One
Wasting Love
Blood On The World’s Hands
From Here To Eternity
Futureal
Sign Of The Cross
Judas Be My Guide
Holy Smoke
2 A.M.
Run Silent Run Deep
Fates Warning
Mother Russia
Fear Of The Dark
———
The Clansman
No Prayer For The Dying
Bring Your Daughter…To The Slaughter

On a more realistic approach (making a tour with some classics in the setlist):

  1. Man On The Edge
  2. Lord Of The Flies
  3. Two Minutes To Midnight
  4. Fortunes Of War
  5. The Trooper
  6. Afraid To Shoot Strangers
  7. Wrathchild
  8. Tailgunner
  9. Sign Of The Cross
  10. Futureal
  11. Run Silent Run Deep
  12. The Clansman
  13. Fear Of The Dark
  14. The Number Of The Beast
  15. Iron Maiden

I would so go if they did something like this. I remember one was rumoured as an Australasian exclusive after Maiden England at one point. I feel like the last two legacy tours have shown they aren’t fully against the idea of playing some of these songs either, given that we’ve seen Afraid to Shoot Strangers, Sign of the Cross and Clansman return, with Futureal, Man on the Edge and Lord of the Flies all also being included in setlists in the early reunion era.

Alright, what do I want here? This one is actually really tricky.

1. Be Quick or Be Dead
2. Futureal
3. Public Enema Number One
4. Tailgunner
5. Wasting Love
6. Blood on the World’s Hands
7. The Educated Fool
8. Sign of the Cross
9. The Assassin
10. Afraid to Shoot Strangers
11. Hooks In You
12. Iron Maiden

13. Man on the Edge
14. Bring Your Daughter… to the Slaughter
15. Fear of the Dark
16. Lord of the Flies

But I think more likely would be, based on the big classics they were keeping in at the time.

1. Be Quick or Be Dead
2. Futureal
3. 2 Minutes to Midnight
4. The Clansman
5. Tailgunner
6. Afraid to Shoot Strangers
7. The Trooper
8. Bring Your Daughter… to the Slaughter (complete with Bruce’s singalong)
9. Sign of the Cross
10. The Clairvoyant
11. Heaven Can Wait
12. Fear of the Dark
13. Iron Maiden

14. Hallowed Be Thy Name
15. Man on the Edge
16. Sanctuary

A 90's only set-list...hmmmh, we all know it'll never happen but just for fun, this is what I'd like to witness live:

1. Be quick of be dead
2. Lord of the flies
3. Lightning strikes twice
4. Tailgunner
5. Afraid to shoot strangers
6. Futureal
7. The Clansman
8. Mother Russia
9. Judas be my guide
10. No Prayer for the dying
11. Fortunes of War
12. Edge of Darkness
13. Fear of the Dark
14. Iron Maiden

15. Sign of the Cross
16. Man on the edge
17. Como estais amigos

I think the closest we could get to a 90's flashback tour would be if Blaze adjusted his anniversary shows to include the songs he recorded live versions of (Afraid to Shoot Strangers and The Evil That Men Do) plus Fear of the Dark. I'd include the songs he intended for a third Iron Maiden album, plus Blood Brothers, which he demoed in the 90's.

  • Futureal
  • Lord of the Flies
  • Blood Brothers
  • Sign of the Cross
  • Judgement of Heaven
  • Afraid to Shoot Strangers
  • The Evil That Men Do
  • Stare at The Sun (Blaze Bayley song)
  • Fortunes of War
  • Virus
  • Blood on the Worlds Hands
  • The Clansman
  • Como estais amigos
Encores:
  • Fear of the Dark
  • The Launch (Blaze Bayley song)
  • Man on the Edge

This was a recent attempt of mine, including three songs from each ‘90s album for a From Fear to Eternity Tour.

1. Be Quick or Be Dead
2. Futureal
3. Holy Smoke
4. Lord of the Flies
5. The Trooper
6. Man on the Edge
7. Tailgunner
8. Sign of the Cross
9. Lightning Strikes Twice
10. Afraid to Shoot Strangers
11. The Clansman
12. The Evil That Men Do
13. Bring Your Daughter… to the Slaughter
14. Fear of the Dark
15. Iron Maiden

Encore:
16. The Number of the Beast
17. Hallowed Be Thy Name
18. Sanctuary

Time constraints unfortunately render a bigger dive into some of the deep cuts impossible, but where most of these songs haven’t been played in so long it doesn’t really matter. Fun set for sure.

I'm back with another interpretation of a From Fear to Eternity Tour. Maybe in 2014, as opposed to a third leg of Maiden England, do a few dates here and there. This is a pretty intensive '90s setlist, so I eschewed a lot of staples (kinda like TFP is doing right now). Would be dope, though.

1. Be Quick or Be Dead
2. Holy Smoke
3. Man on the Edge
4. Lightning Strikes Twice
5. Lord of the Flies
6. Sign of the Cross
7. Tailgunner
8. The Trooper
9. Afraid to Shoot Strangers
10. Blood on the World's Hands
11. The Aftermath
12. The Clansman
13. Fear of the Dark
14. Iron Maiden

ENCORE
15. Futureal
16. The Angel and the Gambler

17. Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter

I almost left "Futureal" out, but Azas might've blown a fuse. I'd love to see Bruce tackling TAATG. That would really be something.

1. Man on the Edge
2. Futureal
3. Holy Smoke
4. When Two Worlds Collide
5. No Prayer for the Dying
6. Blood on the World's Hands
7. The Clansman
8. Judas Be My Guide
9. Judgement of Heaven
10. Sign of the Cross
11. Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter
12. Fear of the Dark
13. Iron Maiden
------------ENCORE------------
14. Be Quick or Be Dead
15. Hallowed Be Thy Name
16. Sanctuary
