I think these parameters should be seen independently in this task. I translated it as follows: put your favourite albums in order (that's a top 5, isn't it?), and after that, give the three best songs from each album. Not: give me 5 groups of best 3 songs and then put the strength of these groups in order.

Here goes, but my top albums and songs have changed yet again. Too much good material to take in.

Powerslave - Aces High, Powerslave, Rime
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - Infinite Dreams, The Evil That Men Do, SSOASS
Dance of Death - No More Lies, Montsegur, Paschendale . (Dance of Death only just misses out).
AMOLAD - These Colours Don't Run, Brighter Than a Thousand Suns, Longest Day
Final Frontier - Mother of Mercy, Starblind, The Talisman. (The Alchemist just misses out)

That was my original intention, yes.

Iron Maiden - 1.Phantom Of the Opera, 2.Prowler, 3.Strange World

This may be the most diverse top 5/top 3 yet! Very interesting.

I suppose this goes mostly for the album selection. I'm loving every era of the band and I don't want to choose 5 albums only from the golden years(I'm glad to see that this is not the case here and most members include some of the newer albums :D.). I think that even a top-5 has to be as representative as possible of the whole picture.

On the other hand, my selection of songs doesn't seem to be too diverse as there are too many epics. :)

Interesting exercice.
1/ Seventh Son : Seventh Son - Infinite Dreams - Clairvoyant
2/ Brave New World : Bloo Brothers - Nomad - Dream of Mirrors
3/ AMOLAD : For the Greater Good of God - Lord of Light - Brighter than a Thousand Suns (I could swap 2 and 3)
4/ Somewhere in Time : Alexander the Great - The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner - Caught Somewhere in Time
5/ X Factor : Fortunes of War - Sign of the Cross - Edge of Darkness

If I had to pick my favorite groups of three songs taken from a single album, I would have made very different choices : Killers and Piece of Mind would have made their way to the top.

1) The Final Frontier: Hard to choose, i'd probably go with Mother of Mercy, The Alchemist and WTWWB

2) Powerslave: ROTAM, Powerslave and 2 Minutes to Midnight

3) The Number of the Beast: NOTB, The Prisoner and Hallowed Be thy Name

4) Iron Maiden: Running Free, Sanctuary and Phantom of the Opera

5) A Matter of Life and Death: Brighter than a Thousand Suns, These Colours Don't Run, Different World

1. A Matter of Life and Death - The Legacy, Lord of Light, The Pilgrim.
2. The X Factor - Sign of the Cross, Lord of the Flies, Judgement of Heaven.
3. Somewhere In Time - Sea of Madness, Caught Somewhere In Times, Wasted Years.
4. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Only the Good Die Young, The Evil That Men Do.
5. The Final Frontier - Starblind, The Talisman, The Alchemist.

I think I have to rectify my list. I'm throwing out IM, and placing Seventh Son on top, with 'Moonchild', 'The Clairvoyant' and 'SSOASS' making up my list

1. SIT: Stranger in a Strange Land, Alexander the Great, Heaven Can Wait
2. TXF: Sign of the Cross, Judgement of Heaven, Lord of the Flies
3. NOTB: Hallowed be thy Name, 22 Acacia Avenue,
4. POM: Revelations, To Tame a Land, The Trooper
5. IM: Phantom of the Opera, Transylvania, Strange World

1) Somewhere in Time: Alexander the Great, Sea of Madness, Wasted Years
2) Brave New World: Brave New World, Dream of Mirrors, Ghost of the Navigator
3) Seventh Son of a Seventh Son: Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, The Prophecy, Infinite Dreams
4) The X Factor: Sign of the Cross, Judgement of Heaven, Lord of the Flies
