2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil

Go Colombia! My favorite team in the tournament. Going in they were up there with Belgium for me but Belgium are playing boring football.

So, what does the good folk of Maidenfans think of the next game? Can Cavani and Forlán step up and fill the void left behind by The Gnasher?

Based on both teams' performances in the world cup so far, Colombia are clearly the favourites. You could argue that Uruguay were in a tougher group, but I still would have expected better from Uruguay. They were poor against Costa Rica, poor against Italy, and were no great shakes against England either. Uruguay are going to have to go up a gear or two to have a chance of winning this one, as Colombia have been very impressive so far.

Was sad to see Chile lose, especially the manner in which they lost. :( Brazil, were once again, lucky, but I think they will have to rely on more than just luck if they're going to win the tournament. They really need to start playing a lot better.

James Rodriguez is officially my favorite player on the planet.

I expect Juan Cuadrado to make a big move this summer. No way he's staying with Fiorentina after this World Cup.

My favorite team in the competition against my least favorite team in the competition (from the remaining ones). Get it done Colombia!

Brazil reminds me of Sweden, and I'm not talking about the yellow shirts. They don't seem to have a working attacking strategy, they just rely on Ibrahimovic, sorry, Neymar to come up with something on his own.

Good parallell. My impression is that without Zlatan, Sweden would be on the same level as teams like Norway, Scotland, et cetera. With him, they are almost good enough for the Wrold Cup.

Without Neymar, Brazil would be out of the tournament already.

Today we'll watch one match between two teams who were expected to do well in the group stage (NED-MEX) and one match between two teams who surprised everyone by going through. Regardless who wins the tie between Costa Rica and Greece, they are going to be the surprise team in the quarter finals - where they will face Holland or Mexico.

1 pm local time, in a place near the equator. They think it will be 31,7 degrees Celsius. With a humidity of 55 percent it will feel as if it's 35 degrees. Unhealthy conditions.

I didn't see the game last night, because I was watching Metallica's Glastonbury performance which was on at the same time. But I watched the match this morning, and Colombia easily deserved to win. Uruguay had a decent claim for a penalty in the first half, and one decent chance in the 2nd half, and aside from that, didn't really do anything. Colombia were clearly the better side, without ever really hitting their top gear. Both goals from James were awesome, especially the first one, which will likely end up as goal of the tournament. Colombia have a real chance against Brazil, hope they can pull the win off! :)
