So is Landon Donovan, and he's on not on the US team because he was an asshole.

To the US, MUCH less so. Not saying it's the same. But of course, the matter could be very moot anyway. Suarez could be gone for 2 years, by which point he would be 29 and reaching the end of his career.
 
Regardless, the worst part is that when they ask Suarez about this whenever his ban is up, he is going to say something about how he was just trying to toss off the Italian team, and it worked because they scored after.

I know how valuable Donovan is to US. But he isn't as valuable as he was before. He's 32 and his quickness was his best asset. I really doubt US would remove him from their squad if he was his younger self.

Wow. That's unlucky ... especially since the opening 10 minutes was the only exciting period so far. The match has calmed down a lot. Seems like both teams will happily accept the draw.
 
Messi is willing his team to victories in this competition. They were horrible against Bosnia and were only up because of an own goal, then he scored and put the game into sleep. They were disastrous against Iran then he scored to win the game. Now two goals in an otherwise mediocre display by Argentina. Don't think Argentina is advancing further than the Quarter Finals but Messi is sure shutting up his critics.
