News 18th Studio Album discussion

Why didn't it work? Sage was great, Bruce's costume was great, boys played great, I get maybe Bruce's voice was a bit "off" whole DOTR, but with his new singing style I'm sure it would sound better than ever.
It was mainly up to Bruce in my opinion. He was struggling a lot. I saw them a few times during the DOD tour, and there wasn't a single night that had Paschendale sounding good. Rainmaker also didn't work well for the same reason. The rest was great tho.

It’s such a shame that he struggled with Rainmaker. It is probably my favourite reunion era song (behind The Book of Souls) and I would love to hear it live.

What i think is that in 2000 i saw them in a venue with around 15 mil people that other show in 2003 with almost the same. When did they make the big jump i think it was with the historic tours.

Adrian fucked the changes a few times with the stop start part

The other day watching rock in rio 2019 during the wickerman he fucks up a bit the solo. He just made up the solo. I think only a few times i have seen that in a classic song by him

Oh come on that is a great solo! I think he was messing around with it a lot at that particular stage of the LOTB tour. He does a similar solo on Nights of the Dead. It’s one of the highlights of the album. But to be fair, there are very few on that particular album!

Its a great solo. But he always nails his solos

Rainmaker is an very hard song to sing on stage. High pitched and fast. Which is a shame because it's their best reunion shorter IMHO (and the best since Be Quick or Be Dead, or Judas Be My Guide), and by a very long shot.

I was there too,and i have a dvd of that show. Not the best one ive been it just i think DOD is their worst album LOL anyway they were great as usual. And not a good setlist
I enjoyed their return to the theatrics and historical themes so much. It was also the confirmation that the reunion plan was for real. Five songs from the setlist were Dance Of Death tracks. And I love it when Maiden focuses on new material. All this, of course, is justifiable because I do like that record. To me, is the album that gave the band wheels to keep going over the hills and far away, bringing back themes from their past, but also new sonic qualities. Awful cover though!

For a long while I used to prefer BNW over DOD. Over the years the latter kept climbing the ranks and despite there being a couple of songs that are weaker imo, there's so much great material on that album. It's in my top 5 nowadays.

I like every song on BNW, but I don’t think any of them are great. Ghost of the Navigator is closest for me.

But DOD has Rainmaker, the title track and Montsegur all of which I consider great.

my brother and I have always had this discussion around BNW v/s DOD. In fact BNW was the album that got us both into maiden & holds a special place in my heart (it’s my favorite maiden album). Coming to DOD, I’ll say barring wildest dreams, it’s actually a banger of an album (definitely more progressive). BNW is a dark and rather heavier album. Can never call it a prog album. I’d say BNW has metal bangers with a similar dungeons & dragons theme (like their 80s) but more revolutionized & refined and DOD has a more progressive, epic & current state of world-esque vibe.

Overall both albums are great but for me BNW is Maiden at its peak.

If I were to listen to either of those two albums from start to finish, I'd probably pick BNW, although I think DOD has higher peaks taken individually (Rainmaker, Montsegur, title track, Paschendale).

DOD probably has more "variegate" ideas but I would take one, maybe two tracks out of it, with the candidates being No More Lies and Gates of Tomorrow.

I think im one of the biggest "haters" of this album. Being hater wich is that i dont like at all anything apart dance of death. I read somewhere that after the fresh bnw this was like a hungover. And i remember the "rumour of the this is not the real cover the conver is beneath the other horrible graphics" here in the forum. And then went to the shop as early i could when they open and found that was the real cover. wildest dreams was knew brcause of the previous tour and a leak and here in the forum i heard the day before the tilte track wich.is 10/10 but then with the cd passing song after song an finding weird choruses weird passages boring songs and feeling that maiden were without ideas. Thats my thought until now. But look many people love that album. So...
