18th Studio Album discussion

Yeah, Maiden as a business is planned years and years in advance. Steve, Bruce and Adrian have their various solo projects that need to be worked around Maidens schedule.

The logistics in everything Maiden do takes time so can't be thrown together last minute. If you're going on tour for example you need to sell tickets about a year in advance, so planning routes, booking venues, transportation, crew, having staging/props made up all has to be done even earlier than that.

We've just started 2026, so any 2028 touring is likely already in the early planning stages.

2027 isn't going to be a year of sitting on their hands. I reckon a few months in the studio and some time for solo projects makes sense.
For a 2028 tour, we need a new album. They can’t do a. Greatest hits tour again following their touring pattern since the 2000s. Really hope they’re able to make the most out of 2027. Maybe spend early 2027 in studio for a launch in Sept 2027 and then hit the road early 2028 (Book of Souls style)

Fair to say there won't be many more chances after then for a new album + new album tour.

They dont want to record so another tour with rare songs and other classics should be the option.

They could carry on with the greatest hits tour idea i suppose if they start to play more stuff from the reunion era instead of just repeating the 80`s era.

I think they will be back with the Run For Your Lives Tour Part 2, featuring the greatest tracks from 1995-2021 albums, as well as some of the most obvious hits from the classic era. To me, it's obvious. The studio albums aren't selling well anymore, and it's a lot of effort to make another one. I think Senjutsu is the last one for good.

The weirdest thing is that this is like knowing how end the most beloved book series or TV show, after many decades. And to do it in the best possible way for the makers and the fans. There is no perfect way to see out the next few years given the weight of expectation.

For me, a new album and attendant tour is far, far better and more fitting than an 80s tour.

They must have all individually written many new ideas by now. 2019 was a long long time ago. It would be shame if we never see those ideas realized through album 18. I am hoping in 2027 they spend 2 months in France and bang out an album for a 2028 release + world tour
I doubt that ideas were for an iron maiden album. They work on their solo proyects.

I disagree. They will have ideas, and some of them will fit Iron Maiden, while others will be more suited to solo projects.
In Steve's case in particular, I think he had a lot of ideas that he wouldn't try to realize with British Lion.

I'm not sure Steve brings any ideas to British Lion, the singer writes all the words I think, I kind of get the impression he just arranges ideas or maybe adds to ideas that the rest of the band bring.

I doubt there's ever been a single instance where Steve thought he had a good idea but wouldn't present it for Maiden.

I think if you see their album interviews they always talk about bringing pretty advanced stage demos (especially Adrian) to the recording studio. This is almost essential for them since they give themselves so little time at the studio. So it is likely all of them parked away riffs and melodies for a potential album.

As long as they don't do a Kirk Hammett and lose their phone on which all ideas were recorded :D

Did that really happen to Kirk? I have always had the impression that most people believe he only used that as an excuse because he didn't really have any ideas/wasn't working on them.
