18th Studio Album discussion

He has spoken about them writing a 3rd album and played the odd unreleased track and as it is 5 years since the last one I imagine it will come out at some point in the next year or so. I think the 2nd one was pretty good myself, first one was patchier.

Steve will do whatever he enjoys!
Maybe Bruce and Adrian should enjoy a joint solo career. Turned out amazing last time...

I quite like the stuff Adrian does with Smith/Kotzen, it`s great to see Adrian perform so close up given the size of the venues they play.
Yes, I understand. It's just that, considering their age and the fact that Nicko has already stopped touring, I really regret that they don't focus all their creative energy and time on new Maiden albums. But then again, they don't seem all that concerned about it.

Yeah it would be ideal to have both solo stuff and a new Maiden album, we`ll see how it pans out. In the meantime i am looking forward to seeing Smith/Kotzen early 2026.

The power won't be a problem in the studio. That's what extra compression is for, and a bit of sample replacement/reinforcement.
Yes he's missing a bit of power, but nothing wrong with blending some samples in for the mix.
Maybe it depends on the approach of the song (like Writing On The Wall). And would Maiden do that?
I still think it will be like: RFYL 2025/2026, new (last?) album 2027, RFYL II 2027/2028 which is from BNW to new album (half of new album, 1-2 songs from each post reunion albums and classics at the end) and later farewell tour in some shape. Considering ongoing vibe, I think that this is most likely.
Quite possible.
I doubt he’d be briefed or privy to the conversions now.
This. Plus maybe he plays the secret game, who knows. Bruce likes to hype as we know, but what if the hint in the tour video is simply telling and would be obvious. Sometimes it's this.
The fact that it's not even a sure thing if there will be a new album and Nicko is already conceding that he would probably only play on a "few tracks" is a signal that he is no longer really in the band imo.
Agreed. And is it a coincidence that both Nicko's new interview and Bruce's tour one were released at the same time...
I think the default is going to be Simon on drums with an invitation to play on some of the album extended to Nicko, but honestly I think Nicko is going to choose to hang out at his restaurant in Florida instead of flying to Paris to semi-participate in a new Maiden album.
I wouldn't be that sure. If he is feeling good to play.
Also it’s easy for me to believe that Steve and the rest of the guys probably all sat down and said “right let’s go out and celebrate the 50 year anniversary. We’ve got a documentary coming out, a book (plus probably a few other releases not yet announced) plus the tours already booked. We can use the drummer from my band to get us through this tour”.
The band probably are having a great time on this tour not having the issues they had on the previous tour with the drumming but I seriously doubt the band have any more plans beyond celebrating the 50th anniversary. If they are having a good time I can see this tour being extended and even a part 2 with some post reunion tracks added but that’s it.
Anyone speculating a new album is on the cards is just wishful thinking.
They could do Part 2 and still release a new album after it in 2027. Why wishful thinking for Maiden, but not for the other old bands?
A live album is another option for them though they havent released one since 2020 I think?
Why a live album would be teased now and not next year, as usual?
I suspect we might see another British Lion before another Maiden studio album.

They're clearly enjoying their solo project, but they need to prioritize a new Maiden album, including Steve. And let's not forget now - recording with BL also means Simon. But the solo recordings are not like Maiden's, so there's that. No new music since 2019 is already a lot of time for them.

This.

As for content on the album - I'd love to see something like 10 tracks - 4 shorter (3-5 minutes) bangers, 4 proggy mid-length (6-8 minutes) and maybe two epic (10 minutes). I mean I'd be happy with anything, but I think the above would be a good mix
^That would be like prefect for all fans. Realistic? Not sure.

There's a small part of me that wants Maiden not to tour in 2026 at all. In the hopes that they can recuperate and write/record a new album - bear in mind they've been on back to back tours around the world since 2022. Or perhaps just a couple of dates in August/September to tease a new album, maybe with a single released..

The thing I worry about is that they're probably not as keen to work on a new record while also having these big world tours still occuring every year. That side of it would get tiring being in your late 60s!

I would still be happy if Maiden did a new album, but also cut their touring back - to make it more 'special' when they did perform live!
I feel the same way. Not only does Maiden now prefer a few months of touring each year, but that is also their main revenue generator. Recording music doesn't pay the bills anymore and seems more like 'work' for some of them, I guess, rather than fun.

Having said aaaaaaallll of that, it has taken Maiden 50 years to get to the stage AC/DC reached as early as the 1990s. Which is releasing new albums with 6, 7 or even 8 year gaps. A higher tempo of releases probably wasn't realistic by now, so perspective on this is helpful.

Nicko has resigned from Iron Maiden LLP on 7 December 2014. But 'N McBrain Holdings LTD' is still an active member (starting in 2008).

Suggests Nicko is 'half in' now, with a company in his name there to continue his more limited engagements.
All members resigned personally and their personal holdings companies are active members IIRC.

Current status is: 5 members are active members personally, while Nicko is only a member via his holdings company (as are the others).

Nicko also resigned from Iron Maiden Touring LLP. That company now has 6 members. The reunion era 5 and Iron Maiden LLP.

Id actually love some no prayer style run times for the next album
